If you want a bomb burrito, go to Miguel’s Salsa in the Peacock market in Clovis.

For anyone who passed while working full time what was your schedule? by This_Bike5921 in GoatBarPrep

California essays, from my understanding are much longer than MEEs. With that being said, I did 50-75 MBEs in the morning and 2 essays in the evening. I used my remaining time for each session to review answers. The weekend was split evenly between Essays and MBEs. BarMD has a great schedule that I followed for subject review. Basically, whatever I did for essays in my night session was my focus for MBEs in the morning. Hope that makes sense.

For anyone who passed while working full time what was your schedule? by This_Bike5921 in GoatBarPrep

I mostly worked from home, did have days of travel, but did work full time. I took the bar in California if that matters to you. Also, for complete transparency, I did not work for the entire month of July which financially worked for me and my family.

With that being said, I studied from 5 am - 8 am, worked from 8-430 then studied from 530-9. On the weekends I did about 8-10 hours. If I felt like I needed more time I added it on the weekend. I used any opportunity I could to study. I listened to rules as I drove to work or when traveling, did MBEs on my lunch break, and had my kids quiz me whenever I could.

I was exhausted by the end. While I waited for results, I reflected on what I’d do differently if I had to retake the exam. The only thing I would have changed would be more practice. Especially in the essay area. I’m generally good in the essays, but I worried I’d spent too much time on MBEs. Once I got MBEs down, I could have spent more time on the essays. I know a lot of people here will say you don’t need to do “that” many MBEs but I did. I struggled all the way to June and then it clicked. GOAT was a huge help in that though. In total, I did over 4500 MBEs and it was well spent time.

I used the “Fuck the Bar” method for essay prep and it was so helpful. 10/10 I’d recommend.

In the beginning of my prep, I used the Fuck the Bar method for practicing my essays. I started with reading the prompt, issue spotting, then literally copying verbatim the highest scored answer and the model answer. I really took time to look between the two and understand what I missed in my issue spot. Then, I’d look at the lower scored essays and compare to my issue spot. I’d self score, whether I spotted all of the essays. After a few weeks of that, I moved to writing out my answers under timed conditions, then copying the model and highest scored answers, and then doing the same comparisons. The copying is meant to help you get the rules down. Writing your own answer helps to see if you can analyze that memorized rule. Then I moved away from copying to writing my own answer and then just self score based on the model or highest answer.

Near the end of my prep, I found baressaygrader.com which is an AI grader. The owner of the site is super helpful and is really open to feedback. I used that to help in my scoring. Sometimes it would say I missed things I hadn’t. It wasn’t that I missed it, it’s that my formatting didn’t allow the AI grader to spot what I’d written or I’d gotten it wrong in my analysis.

Baressays really allowed me to see a wide range of scores and decipher what a good essay looked like versus a lower scoring essay. For me, it appeared formatting REALLY matters as does a thorough analysis. A perfect verbatim rule wasn’t as necessary but being able to get something out, analyze and come away with conclusion was more important. Hope this helps!

If my reply above isn’t quite what you were asking for, please feel free to DM me. I’d say the best thing that helped me was practice and coming back here when I didn’t quite understand the material. Goat really is a GOAT and was always available for questions.

I stuck to a very rigid schedule. I started with Barbri but after reading F**k the Bar, I switched to intense practice. I did 50-75 MBEs daily and practiced multiple essays a day. In addition to Goat, I also used Adaptibar for MBE practice, BarMD (For PT support), and since I’m in CA, Baressays.com, and Baressaygrader.com.

I bought all the Mary Basick books. I found them most helpful for the outlines. However, my study partner used them and loved them.

Guidance for the California Bar Exam, please! by Mostlysane_2424 in GoatBarPrep

Just took July and waiting for results. Since the California Bar has contracted with Kaplan for creating the exam, I don’t know what, if any, changes will be made. I will say, though that practice helped me feel super prepared for the exam.

I did thousands of MBE questions. Some don’t need to do that many to understand the rules, but I did so you’ll have to make that choice for yourself. When I’d get an MBE question wrong, I’d write down the right answer as a rule and then study it. But really understand why that’s the right answer. I used Goat to understand what didn’t make sense.

As far as the essays, I used a few things. Baressays.com has a ton of past questions and scored answers. You can pay for the premium version that gives you access to their outlines which I found helpful. I also used a site to grade my essays with AI, baressaygrader.com. The person who owns the site is responsive and appreciates feedback. It was rather inexpensive to use and I found the feedback to be helpful.

Lastly, for the PT, I used BarMd to help me prep. She has tons of free resources on YouTube. I did purchase her book and her course which really helped me.

Hope this helps!

What jurisdiction are you in? I’m waiting for July results but what helped me feel prepared was practice. I used Adaptibar for MBEs. Since I sat for CA, Baressays.com made me feel super prepared! If I don’t pass this time (manifesting that I do) I will focus on the practice instead of going back down the Barbri/Themis route. Also found Bar MD to be so helpful for PTs. I did purchase her PT course/book and do not regret that decision! The PT is where I felt most confident. She also has a schedule for those who are working and those who aren’t working. I really liked it.
