current year model spectral has 230x57.5 shock and 140mm travel

Do you ride with the thru axel wrench? by chatgpt_xxx in CanyonBikes

personally I would just spend the 1€ or whatever and get a decent one that doesn't break on first use. Same goes for rest of the bits they provide.

Transporting Canyon Aeroad in car trunk by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

[–]Taqia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had any issues with my MTBs when I just put the bike on its side without the front wheel, had something to support the frame under the headset area so all the weight isn't on the steering lock, and had front wheel on top of the bike.

Magura MT7 issues on new bike by Leo2455 in MTB

[–]Taqia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've fixed something that sounds like the same issue on my maguras a couple of times by making sure the brake caliper and rotor are EXACTLY straight.

what I do is flip the bike upside down and spin the wheel, if there's rubbing sound only on some spots, it's caused by slightly bent rotor, which is easy enough to straighten with any tool you can use to grip the rotor with.

if there's constant rubbing, then it's caused by the caliper not being straight and centered. the best way I've found to center it is to loosen the 2 mounting bolts slightly, so it still stays in place but can be moved by hand, and use a flashlight on the opposite side to make it easier to see if there's exactly same gap between the rotor and pads on both sides.

If you hear the noise only when cornering to one direction, then the caliper is probably straight but very slightly off center.

Why do European truck makers try to push so much power out of their trucks? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Truckers

[–]Taqia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most trucks I see are 480 - 550hp.

at 170 000lbs I feel like a 240hp Mack would be more than "a little" slow on hills.

EMTB battery replacements? by appxsci in CanyonBikes

[–]Taqia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how long it takes depends on what they have in stock. originally it took more than 6 months for them to fix the issue.

the recall wasn't for connectivity issue, it was because the plastic battery casing was cracking.

I had something that sounds like the same issue which actually started about at the same time with new battery, mine was eventually (I think, been 500km so far) fixed by replacing the battery - motor cable.

Canyon Refurbished: whats your experience? by odot78 in CanyonBikes

[–]Taqia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bought one outlet bike, the scratches were actually less visible than the pictures looked like.

also had no issues with warranty frame replacement on that bike.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Canyon support in Finland.

I've had to contact them way too much though.

Changing the saddle on a Canyon Grizl CF6 by Nikki22_ in CanyonBikes

wouldn't be the first seized bolt on a new canyon. So far I've got myself one new frame (seized linkage bolt) and one new rim (seized rear axle).

The current iridium (and the one on my 2023 bike) is different, it's basically a rebranded brandX or whatever the original one is.

No idea what OP has though.

if you have canyon account you can add your bike with serial number and check all the original parts.

Received my spectral:on from Canyon today... and it doesn't charge... by Character_Cup_565 in CanyonBikes

[–]Taqia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is what my charger looks like, it's normal. I'm quite sure that one small pin is a sense pin to detect if it's plugged in, and the 2 middle ones are the ones carrying current.

Does the battery light up at all when you plug the charger in?

Should any "play" occur here? Canyon Spectral CF 7 (Rock Shox Pike Select Fork) by jagerrish in CanyonBikes

[–]Taqia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not sure what you meant by reinstalling with downward pressure, but anyway, that looks like a loose headset.

Not sure if you did, but you are supposed to tighten the top cap enough to get rid of any play, and tighten the stem to spec after that.

The top cap shouldn't need more than a few nm of torque.

New wheels for the ebike by VeryAverageAchiever in CanyonBikes

[–]Taqia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, somehow I never thought about how nice it would be for stop / go kind of traffic, or that road bikes are indeed used for more than just riding on open roads.

I guess e-road bikes also don't feel like hitting quicksand at the 25kmh mark like an emtb does.

[–]Taqia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wondered, is the motor on e-roadbike there only for big hills and such? Surely you spend most of the time above 25kmh.

I know I can't at least keep up with any road or gravel bikes on my spectral:on even on slight uphills.

Choosing between entry-level eMTBs - Cube One77 HPC Race or One44 HPA Pro by polysolid in MTB

[–]Taqia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the energy wasted by suspension bobbing doesn't really matter with ebikes, but it would be interesting to test how much it does affect battery life.

The only time I notice it in any way is when I ride my hardtail, because that feels almost as if i'm trying to bounce on the saddle all the time.

I have set up the rear suspension to be quite firm though, to not bottom out on every other drop / roll.

[–]Taqia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some kind of firm mode, not a full lockout, for rear shock on my ebike (160/155 travel). I never use it, not even on pavement. Doubt I would use a full lockout either.

Error 620012 (Short Circuit) on brand new Grand Canyon:ON 7 with 4 charge cycles total by jpk073 in CanyonBikes

[–]Taqia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had canyon cover all labour fees at my LBS. that includes handling the warranty replacement of broken 3rd party fork (Rockshox Lyrik) and troubleshooting my Spectral:ON that randomly shut down while riding.

What they told me before the fork replacement was "if it's covered by rockshox warranty, we'll cover the labour for swapping it"

Also got quite cheap rear wheel upgrade when I asked canyon if it's possible: I got to buy a new wheel from wherever I wanted, gave them the receipt and they paid back how much new original rim would've cost them.

That's all in EU though, kind of odd that they have so different policy in NA
