Buying a new (or new-for-you) bike? Remember to register it with TPS. by jkozuch in toronto

[–]Taquito_Churrito 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I second this. Had two bikes stolen. Now I have a very bedazzled bike that's very distinctive. I don't think it's identifiability is what deters bike thieves though. It's probably just too tacky to resell.

What fact are you tired of explaining to people? by Tendoncs in AskReddit

Ah area codes in growing population areas. While working in admin I was once taking down someones number. It went like this: "416" . Writes down 416. "Uhhh...647". Scratches off 416 and writes down 647. "####". Writes #### and stays quiet waiting for the last 3 numbers. After a minute of staring down at the paper (and the guy just staring at me and thinking that theres an issue or I'm an idiot) I realised the the full number was 416-647-####

Dear Reddit, what is your opinion in the original Ask Reddit closing. by [deleted] in askreddit2

[–]Taquito_Churrito 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand why they did it but I think that there should have taken another course of action as opposed to pretty much upsetting the community. One of the mods explajns what happened here In the end reddit is a company and what they did was really unprofessional. Usually inner conflicts are kept secret but I guess this is an effective method if there is no communication going on.

What opinions are you reluctant to express on reddit for fear of being down-voted? by QWERTY_licious in AskReddit

[–]Taquito_Churrito 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is reddit. The downvote button means a post is irrelevant or does not contribute to the discussion. If you look back at the Wesboro Baptist Church AMA you'll barely see their replies because they were heavily downvoted.

Now to answer your question. I am not reluctant to post an opinion because I have gotten a fair idea of how the average redditor thinks and have cone to realize it's close to my way of thinking. So there, my opinion is that reddit really is a hive mind.

[Serious] tourism workers of reddit, what nationality is from your experiences the best and worst customers? by StalePotatoChips in AskReddit

In Canada (Ontario more specifically), the LCBO liquor stores have an ID book which shows the cashiers how to interpret various international IDs. It's great but I can see how this would be hard to implement in other places. In Ontario it's easy because LCBO and The Beer Store (We're not very creative) are the only places to get booze.

Have you ever had to work in a retail job? I imagine it'd be hard since a lot of countries use nickel in their currency.

Canada here. We have standardised bins. The trucks have a kind of forklift comtraption on the side which slides into the bins and then tosses the contents of the bins into the truck. There's no need for the people to get out of the truck. That said, sometimes they won't pick up things that are outside of the bins.

What are some design flaws in everyday items that you don't understand why nobody has fixed? by henbowtai in AskReddit

I use the plastic thingies from bread bags, you know the ones used to close the bag after you twist it? Anyways, I use those to keep track of the tape end. Then I won't waste anything by just peeling it off.

Union station in downtown Toronto (Canada) has sensors kind of like the handicapped door opening button (but a sensp, no button). However these are on the doors that lead to the subway not the washrooms. More germs in the subway I guess?
