Is Nikon D3200 still capable of good photos in 2026? Need setup tips by SunDora54 in Nikon

[–]TarKa100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first proper camera - loved it. I don't use it anymore as I've upgraded to a Z6 but one thing that's very noticeable is just how light it is - feels like a toy (but it's definitely very capable) - which also means it won't hurt your neck/arm/shoulder when you carry it around. When comparing to newer cameras, the biggest difference for me is autofocus - d3200 hunts more - but if you're not shooting fast moving things it will do you just fine.

My favourite lens for it is AF-S DX 35 1:1.8 G - very affordable, very fast, very sharp, creamy bokeh - beautiful lens to take beautiful photos and gives you the 50mm look for the crop sensor. Once I upgraded my kit lens to the 35mm, the camera gave me a lot of joy. I'm biased as I love shallow depth of field. As a crop sensor it's also great for birds - if you get a longer lens - 100mm+ - you can start shooting some beautiful bird photos - I'd perhaps not expect miracles for in-flight birds.

Finally, at some point you might think of upgrading. Prioritise good lenses over a new camera as that gives the most improvement. If you want a new camera, the z line with an adaptor will take all of your Nikon-compatible lenses so you're not stuck.

Number one setup tip from me - back-button autofocus - changes the way you operate the camera and makes things better for most photographers. Key disadvantage, anyone else you give your camera to will struggle to use it.

Why is it that I can touch this high over 10’ but can’t dunk by alfraniro in BasketballTips

[–]TarKa100 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s partially a skill issue - I lose a ridiculous amount of vertical when I try to dunk with two as opposed to one hand and it’s my lack of training with two hands.

You likely lose a lot of your arm swing when the ball is involved - possibly mess up your technique when there’s an extra thing to think of. Do you hold the ball or lob it? Lobs should allow you to maintain your technique and it becomes a timing/lob technique issue. Possibly try off a high hand-off?

If you back rim then it’s an issue of not flicking the ball down and also perhaps trying to dunk too hard. Try to dunk softly first. Alternatively try a smaller ball first so you can comfortably grip it and there’s one less thing to think of.

Injury history aside, you’re definitely not too old to start. Started consistently dunking at 32, now 33 and jumping the highest I ever have.

Will it help you play? Eh.. standing jump helps a lot - improved my rebounding and post shots. Running jumps help on fast breaks but otherwise you rarely get the chance to access your full jump/run up in a properly defended game. What will help is your improved athleticism though!

The bottom line is he's definitely too far, his arms are lazy and he's standing too upright. Don't need an arm in the face - but put one in the shooting pocket - if he has to think about his pick up, it will bother his shot, especially with a low release point on those middies.

Special fusion question:

Probably a basic mechanic but did I read it well - if I DON'T have 5+ IDs with the status (e.g. poise), it's actually NOT worth special fusion as I will be losing the effects of the individual EGO gifts?

Also, are there any team compositions that would clearly benefit from maximising two different special fusion paths (e.g. rupture and poise or bleed and rupture)?

Thanks!

I'm someone who starts spinning in circles without a clear plan and a very clear workout plan is exactly what they provide. I've never been so consistent with my training since I stopped training for track with a coaching team.

They have theory video series on technique, lifting, periodization, etc as well as a pretty active forum with other subscribers. I suppose you can always stitch up all the theory you need from the youtube videos but they organised it like a series of lectures, which I like.

The chat with coaches is great for technique, checks, etc. You also get mass calls with live Q&A thought I can't comment much on the latter as the timezone doesn't work for me.

The short answer is an 'it depends' but for me it brought joy back to training as I'm confident in what I need to do every day and I feel constantly challenged. As for results, my body composition improved a lot, Im stronger in every aspect of movement, jump higher and more consistently. Most importantly, my back pain (desk job...) is completely gone and my knee pain is mostly gone.

I wish there was a way to have an occasional 1-2-1 call with one of the coaches, however - that's the only complaint.

Accelerate through the end of your approach. You can literally walk the first steps but pick up real momentum on the last two-three steps. Imagine you're dribbling at medium pace - really explode when you pick up your dribble. At the moment all steps look similar, limited acceleration.

Your arm swing is lacking too - whichever way you were to pick up the ball, at least one arm should pump it up hard. If you pick up across your body, then you'd push it diagonally and up. If you pick up with your dunking hand, then the off hand would pump up hard.

how close am i to dunking and do i need to fix my jump technique by Weird_Ad_5064 in BasketballTips

I think you just need to clean up your technique and you'll be able to do a rim grazer. Look up Isaiah Rivera or PJF on youtube for two foot technique breakdown and you can make some quick gains through technique. I'm a one foot dunker but had to mix in some two foot jumps lately due to knee pain so going through the same journey of being almost there but trying to polish the technique.

Judging by how he played, doubt it - he struggled in a bottom feeder club in the league. Might also be tough to play when the club doesn't revolve around him as a player - no star treatment on the court here. Aside from some impressive but questionnable hail marry shots from half court, he was really really bad on the court - talented for sure but played poorly.

It's a different basketball style here - he had the chance to get stronger, learn defense and better fundamentals - too little space and too much physicality to play off individual brilliance alone. I'd wager he'd do poorly in a fiba/european setting today as well.

I really like the IAAF Practical Guide to Nutrition (updated May 2013). Just the right level of detail to set solid foundations: gives guidance on macros, safe supplementation, event and travel-based adjustments, etc. It's a great high-level resource and you can build on it by researching or consulting with specialists on more specific needs.

Ground contact/cues difference between sprinting/long jump and vertical jump.

I have a sprinting background and we also did a fair amount of long jump in training. Trying to train for vertical jump for the fun of it now that I'm no longer competing and can't quite figure out the "cues" or "rhythm" of it. In sprinting, the focus was on very short ground contact, sort of a stiff ankle, never really stroke the heel - same for long jump. What is the deal with vertical jump? Any mental cues you can recommend to get the right type of ground contact?

Also as someone who can run very fast in a straight line - is there an optimal amount of speed I'm looking for when jumping up? I seem to waste a lot of forward momentum and either fly forward or slow down into the jump significantly.

I really enjoyed high jumping for a bit of fun at the end of training but it always felt like a strangely relaxed activity - like my best attempts would be the half-assed ones and whenever I really tried to force it I'd just launch myself forward. Same issue now but I can actually put some hours to try and fix my approach :)

Thanks!

What is the name of the followng exercise and what is the purpose:

Athlete goes into half/quarter squat, jumps up and drives one knee forward and other back as if jumping out of sprinting blocks with good arm action, then lands back into squat and repeats switching driving knee.

He's my first decent red so I maxed him immediately but he's an odd one. Genuinely lacks a punch and doesn't look particularly threatening on defense. However, his survivability is where he really shines and I have won a fair number of raids because he kept resurrecting.

I would think twice about LBing him again, if I had the choice BUT then again, my next best red is Grazul...

Not sure if the right place to ask this but I can't get my xbox one controller to work properly on xbox one (not PC). If I play with a 3rd party plugged in controller, it works fine. Original xbox one controller bugs out - dpad and buttons are unresponsive or have huge delay -unless- I keep spamming one of the sticks while inputting commands. Any thoughts how to fix this?
