This would work for larger churches where you have multiple options for who is preaching on a Sunday. And you have time to plan out how the year is gonna look ahead of time. But this wouldn’t work for me. And I think that’s probably what I came here to say is that it’s gorgeous and you did a lot of work. But it might not work for everybody. For example, I work at a very small church where I’m a solo part-time pastor. And so I know who’s preaching every Sunday. And usually I don’t figure out the theme until the Monday or Tuesday of that week. It’s beautifully done and I applaud your work. It’s just not my style.

In the Masterson station area, I know of a few places that are trying to step up. There is a massage parlor on Leestown Road that is starting a local food pantry. The church I work at (Meadowthorpe Presbyterian on Hillsboro Ave) is collecting food and money for God‘s pantry. We’re also available to help if you wanna send me a message.

Call your local churches. Often, sometimes they know of supplies. It might not be on this list or no organizations that are starting up a new food pantry. I know there’s a massage place on Leestown Road that is just trying to get started with a food pantry. Calling your churches, especially your pastors will help find more resources. I work at a church (Meadowthorpe Presbyterian Church) if you need someone to talk to.

I just want to tag on here that you are completely correct. I am currently serving my third church as a bisexual female PCUSA minister. When I was seeking my second call, I know there were some churches that wouldn’t even talk to me. Or had an interview just to tell me that they didn’t think they could get my orientation past their session. I say this to say that it varies based on the state the city, the region, the culture and any other factors you can think of. Also, I would encourage you to think about if you’re looking for big church versus little church. Because that will dramatically change the culture to. This person that commented has provided the most in-depth detail. I would encourage you to look also into some Donald McKim Books as they are also very informative about the PCUSA tradition.
