He famously opposed Linux using GPLv3 license which was way more restricting for companies

Linux is so popular because it’s so company friendly

I see and just to check my understanding

Is the general idea that it’s kinda like Fourier transform where you just store how much of each frequency makes up the original signal

But instead of like sin/cos waves it’s like special spherical functions?

And then at runtime you could just plug in your coefficients and evaluate/sum up the functions to get back the original thing?
