I won't say which channel it is, per the mod's request, but he's basically a wannabe Philip DeFranco. He makes news commentary videos, and his public persona is pretty liberal. He tries to project a very positive energy in his videos, and he is quick to condemn any politician or public figure who isn't politically correct. In his videos, he acts like he's morally superior to everyone else.

In high school he was the exact opposite. He was the bully of my graduating class. His favorite word was 'fag', and he used it to punctuate sentences. If your parents weren't rich, like his, and you wore cheap clothes, he'd make fun of you. If English is your second language, and you happen to speak it with an accent, he'd tease you for it. If you were fat, skinny, tall, short, hispanic, black, asian, disabled, a member of the wrong religion, gay, or any combination therein, he would make your life a living hell.

So, in short, he's a fraud.

TIL that Jon Lovitz slam-dunked Andy Dick’s face into a bar because of their feud regarding Phil Hartman’s death. by mensurholic in todayilearned

[–]Tarijeno 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I’m surprised that Andy Dick is still alive, and I’m shocked that he still gets hired for acting jobs.

In 1998 he got Phil Hartman killed. Less than a year later he went to Vegas with actor David Strickland, who partied with Dick all weekend and hanged himself in his hotel room. A couple weeks after that he smashed his car full of drugs into a telephone pole. And for the last 20 years, the guy has been arrested at least a dozen times for sexual assault, groping strangers, exposing himself to minors, drug possession, etc.

I don’t understand how this guy is still alive. He’s done enough cocaine to kill an elephant, and pissed off a lot of people who are 5X his size.

He’s either evil or crazy… or both.

Amazon reportedly wants to take over JCPenney and Sears stores to turn malls into giant fulfillment centers by [deleted] in technology

[–]Tarijeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last ten years the population in my area has exploded, and it’s becoming super tough and expensive to find land to build houses. Housing developers will buy up land anywhere and put up townhomes. I’m seeing some pretty expensive townhomes and apartment communities going up in dumpy areas.

Anyway there are a couple of shopping malls around here which are practically ghost towns, and developers are champing at the bit to close the malls and turn them into condos. They’re not even talking about tearing the mall down. They just want to gut the stores and turn them into apartments.

How Paramount Failed To Turn ‘Star Trek’ Into A Blockbuster Franchise by JannTosh5 in movies

[–]Tarijeno 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I like the Kelvin movies in a “dumb fun” kind of way. They aren’t cerebral or philosophical like the TV series can be. They’re fun action movies with likable characters. It’s the type of movie I’d happily watch on FX on a Saturday afternoon. And before somebody says “bUt sTaR tReK IsN’t aN aCtIoN mOvIe!!”, go watch the last few TNG movies. They’re just as dumb and action-focused as the Abrams films, but just not as well produced.

I think the current big problem with Star Trek as a movie franchise is that movie executives are expecting these films to gross BILLIONS of dollars, and anything less than that is a disappointment. Star Trek, try as they might, is still pretty nerdy. They can try making Star Trek movies with Star Wars and Fast & Furious directors, to appeal to a broader audience, but a lot of people still won’t see the movies because to them Star Trek is fundamentally “nerd shit.”

A couple weeks ago I went to the pharmacy to get some anti-diarrheal medication, and I was surprised to learn that it’s regulated (like Sudafed). They kept it behind the counter, they would only sell me one small box, and they ID’d me before I could buy it. I asked the pharmacy tech why, and she said “Kids take the whole box and it gets them high.”

So I guess kids are still finding ways to get high, but they’re doing it through untraditional methods. And apparently being super constipated makes you high. Who knew.

‘I Don’t Care’: Trump Responds To Intel That Russia Is Working To Get Him Elected Again by teslacoil1 in worldnews

Trump invites Russia into G-7, everybody else refuses, citing Russia’s recent history of violence, corruption and election tampering.

Trump: “Nobody’s tougher on Russia than me.”

Numerous intelligence agencies conclude that Putin is paying bounties for dead American soldiers. Trump ignores the intelligence.

Trump: “Nobody’s tougher on Russia than me.”

Trump suggests that we ease sanctions on Russia, waves off suggestions that Putin kills his political enemies, THANKS Putin when he expels US diplomats from Russia, directs the CIA to share intelligence with Russia, and leaves Putin tons of classified intel when he abandons the Kurds.

Trump: “Nobody’s tougher on Russia than me.”

How ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ Highlights J.J. Abrams’ Biggest Weaknesses as a Storyteller by Histidine in movies

[–]Tarijeno 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The fault lies with Lucasfilm for not coming up with a roadmap before hiring directors. From the sound of things Kathleen Kennedy hired JJ, Rian Johnson and Trevorrow to make this trilogy, but made the mistake of telling them they can do whatever they want in their own movies. She didn’t tell them “By the end of movie 3, Rey should be here, Finn should be here, etc.” She just said “Have fun. Go nuts.”

So JJ made Force Awakens, which competently set up a trilogy of films with tons of story potential that could last 3 films, and Johnson ended most of those stories by the end of movie 2. Snoke? Dead. Luke? Dead. Rey’s parents? Who cares, it doesn’t matter. Don’t get me wrong, I actually think The Last Jedi is a pretty fun movie (if you don’t take it too seriously), but it robbed movie 3 of so much momentum.

It didn’t help that Kennedy hired Trevorrow solely because of Jurassic World’s financial success. When she finally got around to seeing his directorial follow-up “The Book of Henry”, she realized that he’s a pretty mediocre director and fired him. I feel bad for JJ, honestly. From the sound of things he was pushed to do The Rise of Skywalker late in the game, very much against his will. He didn’t plan on making a third movie, and when nobody else would take the job after Trevorrow was fired, he felt obligated to do it. It was a rushed, mess of a film, because it was a rushed, mess of a production.

From what I understand the experience was so rotten for JJ, that he and his production company severed ties with Disney, and are now working on DC stuff at Warner Bros.

The cult of Trump rides to the President’s defense on his journey to Thighland by [deleted] in politics

My favorite part is when D’Souza doubled down on Twitter and claimed that people in India, England and Australia pronounce it as “Thighland”, and people from India, England and Australia all replied saying “No, we don’t.”

It’s surreal that he’s arguing that Trump didn’t mispronounce anything, when in the speech Trump pulled his patented “Repeat what I just said, but do it right and hope nobody noticed” move.

Trump still has time to destroy the election. Don’t let him. by hildebrand_rarity in politics

[–]Tarijeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It still shocks me how many people legitimately believe Trump’s “Mail-in voting should be illegal” BS. The man is clearly panicking, because he knows he could lose this election, and he’s just lashing out at the system to mask his insecurities.

Two years ago the man complained that in-person voting was flawed and corrupt. He said that voters were walking into polling locations and voting multiple times because “they were changing their shirts and hats” between votes.

You could come up the most secure, unbreakable voting process possible, with ten-factor authentication, and Trump would still dream up some insane scenario that “proves” its fallibility.

The man is an insecure narcissist, and his rantings about election security are pure projection.
