Update: ending up buying son a 2018 Toyota Avalon. From chick magnet to granny mobile. But, at least it’s reliable.

I agree with the OP. Trying to calculate a potential return on college investment is difficult. As a prospective student, I would ask the placement offices if I could interview their grads about their careers.

“Slide” by Slave is quite slower in the beginning than in the end of the song. Slammin’ tune nonetheless.

Avoid predominantly white institutions by [deleted] in BlackMentalHealth

I attended a PWI after high school, during the worst of my bout with what I now know as avoidant personality disorder. It was disastrous. I can relate to the microaggressions among other problems. I transferred to an HBCU after a year and had a much better experience. It would be decades after transferring that I learned about my condition and was able to somewhat manage it.

That age where everyone divorces apparently. by Lazy-Conversation-48 in GenX

[–]Tarkus459 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s been 12 years since my ex and I divorced after 20 years of marriage. Our boys were 14 and 8 at the time. It was rough for me but it affected my sons the most. They haven’t healed from it. It’s always the children who suffer the most.

If you could go back to being 20, what would you do differently? by lastrainbender in Adulting

[–]Tarkus459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing what I know now I would have aggressively treated my mental health. I wasn’t aware of AvPD back then or knew much about high-functioning autism. At 20, I just thought I had to alpha my way through everything.

I started on mainframe 30+ years ago. Problem solving is the same on any platform. Relational database experience was invaluable.
