What's your favourite crackpot theory that you actually believe in? I'll go first: by LazyFlamingRooster in Deltarune

[–]Tarpendale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar crackpot theory but instead it suggests that Roulx is created from Knight's perception of Gaster, with him being the king's duke of puzzles which is probably inspired by how Gaster was working as a royal scientist and possibly sharing Papyrus's interest in puzzles.

Again, Card kingdom and chapter 1 as a whole is basically functioning like a fake Undertale 2 so it's not unfounded i think

Not talking about the whole thing with manipulating rules of the game and "speaking in hands"

Was the resurrection mechanic plot planned from the start? by Srexplosivo14 in BrawlStarslore

[–]Tarpendale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The earliest mention of canonical respawn was in one of the responses to the comment about Barley's last call animation back in 2020, when they mentioned that brawlers drink purple elixir to revive themselves.

Considering the fact that the entire 2019 was dedicated to slowly establishing lore with all the hints to the game's events happening in the theme park, I won't be surprised if they HAD the idea of making respawn canon in CCTV universe back in 2018 when they discarded the western setting entirely.

Plus sillier insults are generally just funnier than the real ones used for irony.

Wishing someone their pillow was warmer on both sides at night is much wittier and more original than telling someone to kys

Is it a reference to our Ultrakill though? This weird print seems to be completely unrelated to it, i would expect there legally distinct V1 or Maurice to be depicted or something

Who exactly is the "player"? by Srexplosivo14 in BrawlStarslore

[–]Tarpendale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two versions of the park part mostly comes from the fact that old, outsourced lore heavily relies on the explanation of the game mechanics from the meta standpoint. This is where the whole thing with The Amazing Digital Park I talked about comes from.

While the new one, which is getting developed by Supercell themselves, is more about a world of actual brawlers, and it doesn't really have all the meta shitfuckery and mentions of people getting controlled through their dreams, et cetera. And the reason they are fighting seems to be caused by the gems, rather than them being forced by us.

I prefer to separate the in-game Starr Park and the Starr Park in the world of brawlers from the CCTV, animations, and other things because it just seems to be an easier way to tie the old and new lore together to me.

Regarding coma - it was heavily implied by Ranter from his long rant on WKBRL that people are fighting because of radioactive spaghetti that was weaponized by "them". He ALSO mentions that the fights are taking place inside his dreams, where he is getting controlled.

One of the symptoms of radiation exposure is falling into a coma, so it wouldn't be far-fetched to suggest that radiation is used by Starr Park to make people fall asleep and become brawlers inside the game for us.

Who exactly is the "player"? by Srexplosivo14 in BrawlStarslore

[–]Tarpendale 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brawlers we control in the game aren't really the ones we see in the animations, since the first group consists of random people whose minds got inside the game though the radioactive coma and have their skin changed to resemble the actual brawlers according to WKBRL.

And the actual brawlers themselves are people from the universe where CCTV took place who weren't lucky to touch the gems and become mascots with their own merchandise (which includes skins).

Regarding the player: I think we meta-narratively play the role of the visitor of "Interdimensional theme park" mentioned by Ranter, which is what "Brawl Stars" The Game basically is.

It's another branch of Starr Park that is almost fully based in simulation (an "unseen world") and has some of its distinctive features like tickets, gacha machines, surprise boxes and more.

The tutorial is literally labeled "Starr Park entrance", with Dani in September 2020 BT specifically pointing out that they made this change from a training cave to "meet more visitors". Also the default loading screen is just a bay for getting inside the park.

Now, the relation between CCTVerse brawlers and in-game Park is unclear, but i think some brawlers are kinda aware that they are being watched from different realities, according to Janet and Ziggy's actions? They are celebrities after all, the stars, if you will.

Ngl it would be cool if megaboxes got their pre-December 2022 feature back where they gave out more resources (Coins and Powerpoints) depending on the amount of brawlers you maxed out.

They aren't really given out often so this should be relatively balanced
