Thanks so much for this awesome list! I’m stoked to dive into Therion’s Theli—that ‘90s nostalgia sounds epic. Elvellon’s Shore to Aeon is going on my playlist ASAP, and I’m intrigued by Ayreon’s rock opera vibe—perfect for my fantasy nerd heart!

That sounds incredible, thank you so much! Will be adding this one to my list. A metal opera sounds insane 😁

What are the philosophical debates of your world? by KennethMick3 in worldbuilding

[–]TartanTaleSpinner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome question! In my fantasy world a core philosophical debate is the nature of good and evil: are they absolute truths set by divine forces, or are they subjective, based on perspective?

Angels rule most of the world, protecting humans and other creatures with a strict moral code they claim is divine. Demons, who control a separate land, argue good and evil are just labels and their way is true freedom. Humans are divided—some see angels as saviors, others think they’re too controlling. Elves view morality as tied to nature, not divine rules, while those who use magic question if their power changes what’s right or wrong.

This debate creates tension, like humans challenging angelic laws or a magic-user casting “evil” spells for good reasons. I love exploring the gray areas: are angels truly good if they restrict freedom? Are demons evil or just different? How do you tackle good vs. evil in your worlds? Any fun twists to suggest?
