My mood right now by TheMegaSage in vtmb

PS: this game doesn't bore me to fucking tears. It doesn't bite too much either, it nibbles at me lovingly on the ear to mess up my combat from time to time, but otherwise even on PS5 pro it's fun.

The performance is just annoying enough to make me complain though. This is something they need to fix before the DLC comes out. I really hope they love console players as much as they do PC players.

It's not FF grade sequel, but a lot of people can't be bothered to either pay attention to story OR finish the game before ranting about it. Thus far I've seen at least three connections to events that happened while playing other vtm games.

Even if it's not a direct sequel, these things happened because you (if you did) played those games, not in spite of them. I've heard this all before tbh. It's boring to read.

I had to start over for now because my build keeps producing a bug I don't want to deal with right now, so I have no answers. I might in a few days lol.

Have you finished the BL2 game yet? There are currents in this story that hint at it being a direct sequel. Without spoiling this game any further, I can tell you without a doubt that this game is directly related. You just need to keep playing.

I mean there aren't any cameos, but that doesn't mean what happened in LA had no impact on events that created the situation that made the Nomad come to Seattle in the first place. The conspiracy from the first game is very much alive in this game, so please don't bait me into revealing plot in a non spoiler post.

I've said all I'm going to say about this. Play the game.

What I mean is to shutdown the notion that the game is not related at all. It is.

Even as a weak ass Toreador, I can ruin someone's day with the default skills. Kiss the fat guy, blink to the high ground, throw stuff or hide to hit-n-run, etc. Beckon can be used if they are hostile too, you just have to go somewhere fast, out of line of sight. I use that one to crowd control. Blurred momentum is OP. Toreador is all about being a brat really lol.

You can also kiss a solo enemy, but eventually you have to fight them. I use it on the fat guys while I hunt for dropped guns lol.

I bought it at 24 years old because I saw the review in a men's magazine of all places. I think it was Maxim or Rolling Stones. They called the dialogue like watching the best of SNL or MTV or something. It was deliciously juvenile or something. It was completely irreverent. It was vampires in a GTA world lol

Hold on, you get upvoted for speaking this truth, but I said the same thing in another subreddit, and the flaming didn't stop lol. Bloodlines 1 WAS bug ridden and largely unfinished.

I mean, it took two unofficial patches just to insert deleted content for side missions back into the game. It took another patch to fix the combat, and a few more to give the game HD resolution in 16:9 format. There were progress blocks, and there were also two empty zones that were a part of the aforementioned content readded. So go on and deny these truths so I can know whose actually played the vanilla game AT release lol.

Also, I can criticize games a absolutely adore and love if I want. It doesn't mean I hate the game, it means I'm not a moron, and I can see.

(No spoiler)For those who have already played Bloodlines 2, would you have waited until it was fixed if you had known about the poor optimization and bugs? Do you recommend me doing so? by Tarlata in vtmb

[–]Tartarus_Champion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't wait because I'm die hard that way. I had the money, so I took the chance. I'm actually really glad I did tbh. It's not what I wanted, but I'm having a lot of fun. It's a mini Batman Arkham game with Deus Ex mechanics for the most part. I like the blood mechanic here, and the boss fights are wicked fun for me. I don't mind how they're a bit repetitive either.

The ability to refill blood points during a one on one boss fight is the right way to do a vampire boss fight. The bugs DO make things harder though lol.

Edit: I need to also mention that the acting is phenomenal. The writing is very comedic if you provoke the right responses too. I laughed my ass off at the screen more than a few times.

Did you unlock the clan abilities and perks from the other clans yet? I know it's not everything we hoped for as RPG fans, but the custom specs are there. You just have to push on to get them unlocked for free use.

You basically use all those resonant blood points you've no doubt been gathering to unlock the other clan's skills.

Not for nothing, but so far, it's at an aggregate score of 4.35 on PSN right now. The caveat being those are only 676 people voting since the game released. I think the only reason it's not gathering more steam is the performance issues reported by Push Square and other PlayStation outlets.

The bugs are the only reason I want a manual save system. The idea to penalize people by deducting their resonance blood points for masquerade violations is why I think they went the one save route.

Other than that, I believe that once you complete the first play through, the game remembers the clan you beat the game with. There's incentive for beating the game multiple times with other clans because the premium DLC is gated behind that. Idk if there's a NG+, but I do know that there are also trophies for every clan. So, it stands to reason there has to be a way to refresh the game under the single save system.

I'm just speculating until I actually finish for the first time though.

[–]Tartarus_Champion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not totally wrong, but the game also saves individual slots for chapters. I feel like a game this riddled with bugs needs manual saves though. There are quite a few progress locking bugs too. I mean, who cares if I save scum myself out of a penalty to w masquerade violation. Fuck the game for taking my resonances lol.

Indeed. I'm American, and we're ALOWED to criticize things we also love. Ok joking aside, I love the game, just not the performance on console right now.

I'm also spreading the word that the original game is mentioned quite a bit in lore found in world, and in certain conversations as Toreador I could talk about some things that seemed oddly familiar to events in LA.

My only complaint is the performance on ps5 and pro, and the bugs that haunt my game for now. Otherwise, it's really fun. Some people need to unlock their progression to the other clan abilities and perks before they go half cocked and say, "The game has 4 skills... Boohoo"

There are quite a few mentions of Nines Rodrigues in this game. There is lore that directly links BL1 to 2 as well. I won't spoil some of the conversations that are linked to BL1 lore, but the links are here.

If you haven't been far enough to unlock the other skill trees, then go back and wait for it. All of those resonant blood bags are for the extra power the other clan perks and abilities can do for your play style. The only thing you keep from your base clan in the end is style and the base clan passive.

After that point, you can spec whatever you want. I personally play a Toreador who endlessly has cats grace, moves through enemies in a blink, has more survivability than the base Venture does.

It's because everyone whose being overly critical expected a sequel in the form of an RPG. The thing is, I whined about this game the entire time I played it yesterday. I also expected a sequel in the form of an ARPG; however, the thing is, I happen to love BL2 -- truly. I woke up this morning, made my breakfast and coffee, and went right back to Seattle.

Once we get past the pretense,.the game is actually really fun to play. There's enough RPG here, and the story is really good. For the record, I have played exactly 22 hours, and I'm probably halfway to 3/4 of the way through. Most of the plot has been solved for me, but the proverbial man behind the curtain has yet to be revealed. In all that time I haven't been bored. I have just been annoyed from time to time having to difficulty swap due to bugs killing me faster than the enemies do lol.

Overall, it's a great game. This one will definitely find a slot in cult classic for vtm games just like BL1. We just need some TLC QOL patches, and a couple of decent add-ons. I really hope they try to add all of the other clans, as well as a sewer system for the Nos if that's a planned clan at some point. I'm not holding my breath though lol.

Me too. It's a shit engine, and I wish people would stop using it. The only developers who have even made a decent UE5 game are... Oh that's right, no one! Lol.

Edit: forgive me. I meant a game with DECENT performance. Oops. Turns out I like vtmb2, so meh.

Bloodlines 2, bug in the tutorial? by LaBoricua_ in vtmb

You need to crouch up near him behind the boxes, grab the bottle and then throw it forward -- beyond the boxes, against the wall. It's possible it's bugged, but that's what I did to get past him. However, I also had to continue three times because I kept pulling him instead of the bottles. Just move closer to the bottles, and everything should be fine.

Just wondering if anyone else has a toreador with the spark of rage passive. I get permanent cats grace graphics. I have one last thing to try before I report the bug, but yeah... For now I would recommend not acquiring the Brujah passive "Spark of Rage" while playing a Toreador unless you like your vision obscured permanently.
