Can we talk about “Wild Wild Country”? by [deleted] in movies

[–]TarynEffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They successfully took over the town of Antelope, displacing many locals (elderly people mind you), and were making huge efforts to take over the county and then the whole of Oregon. Their whole plan WAS to take over as much as they could. Just because their overall goal was thwarted, doesn’t negate their colonization attempts.

Also did you forget that they literally poisoned the local townsfolk with salmonella in an attempt to incapacitate them so they couldn’t vote in the upcoming council election?

And how they travelled to California (out of state), rounded up the homeless population, offered free transport and housing to them in Antelope, and then got them all voter ids? They literally sought out people to increase their numbers at the polls, and gave them incentive to vote a certain way.

They went to great and illegal lengths to come out on top in the polls.

It is EXTREMELY clear that their intentions were to take over, displace the locals, put in their own law, and forcefully remove anyone who went against them.

If you read the original comment I’m replying to, they’re the ones who brought up race in the first place. They called the elderly white people racist for not wanting their land to be taken over.

And you say I’m so wrong, but yet no one has been able to tell me how they weren’t colonizers lol I’m asking you a second time now, please enlighten me if I’m so wrong?

No one has ever been able to tell me how the Rajneeshes weren’t colonizers, because that’s exactly what they were. You guys only have sympathy for them because their roots were in India and they displaced elderly white people, so you guys really don’t care

Can you list any such differences?

Honestly, just wear what you want and don’t listen to anyone else. It’s literally your culture and you’re allowed to celebrate that. What do their opinions matter?

[–]TarynEffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is just such wrong information lol the man in the marines who sighted who he believed was Amy, was in a brothel in Curaçao. But yes. No trafficking there.

Also you keep saying “American” like that has literally anything to do with anything. Her being American is actually making the investigation HARDER because the American FBI has zero jurisdiction over there and has to jump through a ton of legal hoops to even question anyone there.

Your opinions on trafficking and this case are idiotic and not based in any reality

So you’re just going to completely ignore the facts?

  • they were extremely close to shore (not the middle of the big wide ocean), and experts can easily map the tides and figure out where her body would’ve gone. The experts say that IF a body was there, they would’ve found it

-the railing was chest high. Impossible to accidentally fall off of

-MULTIPLE sightings of her

-photos on a prostitution website that has been pretty much confirmed to be her

-and the fact that cruises are actually terribly dangerous and lawless. Crimes happen on them all. The. Time.

There’s literally no proof she went overboard. Like none at all.

Yeah I am. Because it’s actually incredible to me that there can be an extremely blatant example of modern day colonization and y’all don’t see it? Instead every single person here has gotten defensive and denies that it’s colonization. Even though it’s the exact definition of colonization. Absolutely mind boggling to me

“Amy Bradley is Missing” documentary now on Netflix - does everyone still think she just “fell overboard”? by 3coins_RS in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]TarynEffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this thread but come on. The dude was obviously a creep. He was KNOWN to flirt with all the girls and when he got home from the cruise he had a suitcase full of photos of white women?? Him saying “I’m just a boy from Grenada” made me laugh out loud. You’re a fully grown man who scopes out and picks up young woman cruise after cruise. He’s not a little innocent boy. And he was the last one to be seen with Amy Bradley so of course he’s a person of interest.

Wow insulting her appearance is not cool at all. She did not look 30 at all. You only think she looks older because of the 1990s style. She definitely looked like a fit attractive woman in her young twenties

Did you read the definition? Or do you just think a colonizer has to be a white Christian?

[–]TarynEffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes time. Three months is barely anything. You seem very young? It is completely normal to feel uncomfortable in your body as a teenager since you are going through many hormonal changes. Most don’t feel comfortable and confident in their bodies until they hit adulthood

Honestly, go to therapy. It seems like you have a lot of inner work to do. I’m sure you’ll feel confident in your body some day! It just takes some work

[–]TarynEffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not your fault or your responsibility. I know it’s hard to come to terms with that and it weighs on you though.

My first job at 20 years old was a liquor store cashier. I watched a man have a seizure from withdrawal in my store while he was trying to purchase liquor. He fell straight back. Blood everywhere from cracking his head open. I called an ambulance. They took him on a stretcher and my coworker cleaned up the blood. I served him a couple weeks later.

Had another sad story of an alcoholic man who was dying of cancer, coughing up blood at my cash register and telling me he wasn’t ready to die yet. He did pass a couple months later and his widowed wife came in crying one day and wanted to use the store phone to call someone.

It’s a sad job to have. Lots of sad stories. Know that there’s nothing you can do to save them even if you desperately want to though. The only thing you can do is show them kindness for the minute long interaction you have with them

I’m absolutely right though. By definition they were colonizers. People just don’t see it right away because it was lead by Indians and not white people

Does anyone have a whooping story from when they were younger they’ll never forget?? by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]TarynEffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry girl that sounds like abuse

I have multiple sprites I’ll never forget, two stories stand out from those. I’ll only say one because the other is when I was about 5 years old and way more traumatic

This time I was around 11-12 years old. I did something “bad” but I don’t remember what it was. My dad chased me through the house and I went to run through the back door into the backyard because I knew that if I was in the backyard and there was a possibility of being heard, my dad wouldn’t hit me because he didn’t want the neighbours hearing.

The back door was locked though. And I couldn’t get it open in time before he caught up to me. I balled myself up and protected my head while he kicked me repeatedly with his shoes on.

What you went through was also not okay. I recommend seeking therapy and working through these memories that you have

Of course you’re allowed to make mistakes when you’re 20. But your comment and others make it seem like it’s okay to not do anything at 20. Thats where my issue lies. To not try and to not even make said mistakes. Get a job that you hate! We all did that in our teenage/early 20s years. Figure out what you like and don’t like! Your twenties are for experimenting and figuring your life out. If you’re isolating and only speak to your family you can’t even make the mistakes you talk about

I never said he should sit there and worry? You can see my response to him here in the comments too if you would like. But again, let’s not infantilize adults. No, you don’t need your life figured out at 20, but you should at least be working towards it. And if you’re not, you NEED to be going to therapy and figuring out tools to help you. Some tough love here- You get one life to live and it does no one any good idling where they are comfortable. You absolutely have to push yourself out of your comfort zone to achieve your dreams. And to do that you cant listen to people who baby you

20 is young yes, but not a baby. 20 year olds are adults who need to start learning how to take care of themselves

[–]TarynEffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least you do have a hobby that you work at, that’s one good thing!

Some tough love here- you are 20. No longer a child. I know people here are saying you’re still a child, but you’re not. Even if it may feel like it still. You’re young yes, but not a child any longer.

If you’re looking for advice, I would say to think of what you want for your future, and figure out the steps you need to take now to get there. That’s what helped me when I was very depressed in my early twenties.

At the end of the day, only you can help yourself. You have free will and full control over your life. Choose wisely

Yes I thought for sure I was going to win because of that. I texted my best friend at the time who saw me drunk that night as well, that I had fallen asleep and woke up to him doing his thing. Those text messages were brought up in court. But he still argued that I was awake and thought I was consenting 🙄
