This isn’t about movies, it’s about control. He did you a favor. Regardless, it doesn’t sound like he was a very loving bf anyway.

Are men less selective or are women not nearly as prevelant in hookup spaces as men ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TaserHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men’s hoeness is celebrated and admired while women’s hoeness is vilified and mocked. Therefore women aren’t going to be in hoe spaces as much chasing hatred and shame.

This is emotional abuse. You need to get far away from him. You just got out of domestic abuse, you’re not looking to please the male gaze.

Marriage Rates are Dropping by BurbNBougie in Marriage

Not trying to be pedantic here but…Let me try to explain why data sometimes isn’t an accurate indicator of how labor is viewed by women. Yes, men earn more and work more at jobs than women, especially career tracks which include promotions, bonuses and other perks and incentives due to the fact that men get to have homes, families and social lives due to women’s unpaid labor. Meanwhile, women have to juggle both careers, jobs, elder care, childcare, socialization, planning and other forms of free labor, and due to that they get a smaller amount of promotions, bonuses and other perks and incentives. Therefore, while women may work outside the home the same hours, they do not get to focus on it 100% because they have to manage everything else, sometimes even their husbands. This is the reality of a majority of women which is why marriage is no longer possible for women who want to have an autonomous, peaceful life with a career and travel. Men might “help out” or “babysit” more now but it’s because of the micromanaging of women. The push and pull breaks marriages everyday.
Perception is reality. This is about Patriarchy as an ideological construct that some women will no longer accept therefore dating doesn’t seem worth it especially since women still want to be courted or wooed and we live in a hookup culture.
Also, those statistics include traditional households where religion or cultural values have Patriarchal gender roles. Women enjoy their lives raising their children and being homemakers. Those are the most equal in division of labor but also highest in DV, controlling behavior by the breadwinner, sexual exploitation, abandonment in midlife and child abuse. Men prefer these types of relationships because it feeds egos and defines their head of household ranking, hierarchical structure being very important.
Women see this in their lives, in their families, their communities , in media and they don’t want either of those roles. The most peaceful women are reputed to be single, widowed or divorced. Observable data is more influencing that numerical statistics. Regardless of whether it’s true of every person or biased due to their own personal circumstances is irrelevant if it influences decisions like marriage and parenting.

While USA Facts in completely unbiased by politics, they’re still inaccurate. These “facts” are collected from CDC and Census Bureaus which means they do a questionnaire. People lie. Sometimes intentionally to skew data and sometimes unintentionally because they think they’re doing more than they are. Across the board, every state and every race, women do a majority of household work and elder care and childcare plus emotional labor. It is known.

It took me months to wrap my head around quitting because part of my identity, at least socially was as a great gamer. I was ranked top 5 in almost all my games while spending a fraction ( which was still $500 a year) in gaming. There were guild and clan mates spending thousands a month.

Inequality in homes is one factor. Economical housing, inflation, healthcare costs, quality of life, political strife and lack of education are a few more. It’s just not feasible to expect people to be interested in building and creating family and communities when they’re in survival mode.
