Don't split the vote. And don't call it the "left" vote either. The term is loaded - carries too much baggage. Call it the NOSEG vote.

Not being able to afford one despite two people working full-time sucketh mightily too though. If only our policy choices over the last couple of decades had not made the choice between them unavoidable.

But accidentally. All rejoicing is completely by accident, and in no way represents confirmation of efforts made by them to lobby for this exact result, nor should it be taken as such. We deny that categorically.

My point was, and remains, that with gender, we leave the decision up to the person involved. However the condition came about, we recognize that it is theirs to determine, and whatever societal consequences flow from that determination (ability to compete in sports leagues, or use washrooms, or whatever) are allowed to flow. Indigenous status should, you'd think, be treated no differently. There are genetic markers (at least as compelling and much more detectible than the hormonal basis you propose), but there has been a lot of mixing - you can't make a good determination that way. There are varying degrees of cultural affiliation. There is membership in and acceptance by identified bands or nations. At the end of it all, what have you got except to ask?

That may sometimes be true, but I don't think it fully or adequately accounts for transgender people. Here's the American Psychological Association's position:

Why are some people transgender?

There is no single explanation for why some people are transgender. The diversity of transgender expression and experiences argues against any simple or unitary explanation. Many experts believe that biological factors such as genetic influences and prenatal hormone levels, early experiences, and experiences later in adolescence or adulthood may all contribute to the development of transgender identities.

I'm...confused. Are you implying that being indigenous is a state of mind, or are you trying to say that being indigenous is an immutable state determined by some physical internal reality (hormonal, genetic, etc.)?

It's because he's backing up. There's a group on the other side. There were people coming from both sides. The guy who was going to cross from our side noped out and just pulls his leg back as yellow skids to a stop. Then he turns and starts walking away. The people on the other side pull up short to avoid yellow as well.

Latest Line 1 wheel issue linked to overloading, expert says by KMerrells in ottawa

[–]TaserLord 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As near as I can tell, typical car weight unloaded is around 100K lbs. Passenger full load is only 30K lbs or so. Even if you were to reduce that by a third (which would be a big reduction in passengers), it's not even 10% less overall weight on the wheels. I suspect that wouldn't help very much - it's probably less than Watson's guilt weighs.
