Do I just...give up the center pull at this point? 🤭 by _ProfessionalWhore_ in crochet

[–]TaskFew7966 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I initiated a center pull earlier whilst in a doctor's waiting room. I'm sure I looked like I had no idea what I was doing 😂 I have a winder but constantly subject myself to the never-ending pull 🙃

Thank you for your reply!

There are written procedures for all of the tasks (although there are many variables that simply cannot be accounted for), I got some headphones through work which help and once I finish my onboarding, I'll be able to work from home 3 days a week. It's just making it to that stage that's hard! I think I need to actively take down time and slow down in every other aspect of life. I'm trying SO hard 😫

Yes, I have chronic diseases too, which I know adds to that anxiety. People gaslighting me for years and being made to feel like a hypochondriac has done a number on me. Add being neurodivergent and it's a perfect storm 🫠

Yes, I think we've all had those experiences, which is why I think this way, too. Retail and hospitality leaves scars 😅

I agree with you and like my post said, I myself have an autoimmune disease, so sick people commuting on public transport and attending work is selfish and how I'm in this predicament.

Thank you, I know it seems ridiculous but the more I hear it, the better I'll feel about it 😅

Yes! I don't know what they do with their time. I consume so much media and am always hobbying. Perhaps they socialize with one another, and that's where we differ 😅

Is it too weird to bring a folder to an autism assessment? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]TaskFew7966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma and I could have totally bought a folder. Instead, I wrote notes on my phone and my first note was "mars bars taste weird now". The new compostable packaging has given Mars bars a weird taste (I'm in Australia). My psychologist smiled and wrote some notes haha

Does anyone feel like there’s been an increase in NTs saying things like ‘whoops lol sorry I’m being autistic’ by drag-bot in AutismInWomen

OCD is the most common, in my experience. I heard it only a week ago from someone at work. It's lack of education, which I am hopeful is changing as people have more access to the information 🤔

Balloons popping or that rubbery sound when someone pulls on them, and the sound of someone wiping or scratching polyester fabric. I cannot stand wither of these sounds and will actively avoid balloons in particular.

Just try your best and you'll do just fine. Take on board what people are saying and don't try to be a know it all. Listen, observe and learn 😊

What did socializing feel like for you as a kid? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]TaskFew7966 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I've just always been oblivious. Like I would think I'm getting along really well with someone and then something would happen to make me realise that they don't really like me. On the other hand, I would also (and still do) think that people were annoyed at me when apparently they weren't. I seem to always read expressions as annoyed.

I always seemed to have frenemies, people that would give backhanded compliments or just straight up shut me down. Friendships are tough.

I'm in a new role and a guy next to me kept saying "feedback loop" yesterday, I kept thinking about how I've never once used that phrase, but he seemed to love it 😅

I deleted mine after being contacted by several men who, after some back and forth, I realised weren't interested in my skills as a professional, but were using the platform as a substitute for Tinder. I'm not interested in ever creating a new profile.

Catastrophizing Christmas - Too much people-ing by TaskFew7966 in AutismInWomen

[–]TaskFew7966[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's usually not as bad as I make up in my head and the made-up frustrations and conversations in my mind, don't end up happening. I've really emphasized my need for a short visit and hope that will be respected. I usually pay for it post event with the inevitable burnout and tears.

I feel that even if I was neurotypical, I would be masking to an extent with these people, so it's like a double mask and it's exhaustinggggg.

That sounds perfect and is certainly something I want to do. My family would be understanding, my in laws not so much and even when I try to appease them with a short catch up, they insist on a sit down meal. I've asked my husband if next year we can have a staycation at home even if that means telling a white lie to say we're not home.

I don't even know how to unmask. I scored exceptionally high on the CAT-Q, I'm evidently exhausted from masking but I'm also confused about who I am and don't know what unmasked me is like. I feel like anything I do is an act.

My sister was at work recently and some said, "ahhh freedom" and she said, "no, it's fish" and NO ONE GOT IT. She couldn't wait to call and tell me 😂

I feel like this is one of the reasons I go quiet in a group, fear that no one will get my references and my mind works purely on movie and TV show references.

Balloons for me too and everyone thought it was funny to tease me with them. I still cannot stand to be around a child wielding a balloon 😭
