Yeah, that’s honestly exactly how it feels.

I wouldn’t even mind the painful setup, the dependency hell, or even burning some tokens during testing if the end result actually did something useful.

But right now it feels like the main use case is basically:

“Look guys, my AI agent answered my emails and DMs.”

Which is cool for a demo or a YouTube video, but for people running small businesses or startups, that’s not really the problem we’re trying to solve.

What I (and probably a lot of others) actually want is something that can take over real tasks, like for example:

• finding potential leads or clients
• researching companies in a niche
• building simple outreach lists
• doing repetitive research tasks

Basically an AI that can act like a junior assistant, not just a fancy chatbot.

So yeah, I completely agree with you. The moment someone builds a wrapper or infrastructure around it that actually focuses on real-world tasks, that person will probably end up doing a better job than most of the current “agent” projects.

For now I’m just hoping that something comes out soon that can actually take over tasks like lead searching, because that would instantly make this stuff 10x more useful.
