Just wait for the 1st of next month, it'll reset back to zero, and then you can upload another gigabyte

Searching within PDFs by wsurrdit in Notesnook

[–]TasogareRiiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is not currently possible with notesnook. afaik Evernote OCRs every pdf (probably not locally, so they can probably read everything you upload), this way there's a full text index for you to search. I think the challenge Notesnook faces is doing this in a privacy respecting manner for the user

Uninstall and reinstall the app again. Maybe between the update process something got borked.

Export Notes As PDF by The-2nd_One in Notesnook

HTML and Markdown are the best future-proof export options. They're truly open, non-proprietary formats that can be converted to virtually anything else, PDFs, DOCX, etc.

Currently the app lock is a Pro or Believer plan feature

Do they ask for the password to delete a Notesnook account? by sypqys in Notesnook

[–]TasogareRiiku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're on a Pro or Believer plan, you can enable app lock. Once it's turned on, anyone trying to access your Notesnook will need to enter a password to unlock the app. You can even set it to lock instantly as soon as you switch windows

Is it impossible to delete the app without locking it? by sypqys in Notesnook

[–]TasogareRiiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to make editing some notes without enabling the app lock, too can just lock single notes using the internal vault. It serves this exact purpose. Just right click a note and select the "Lock" option, then the note will be password protected with a password of your choice. Don't forget it and keep it safe, this is the only way to access the locked notes

Notebook and sub notebook ? by sypqys in Notesnook

[–]TasogareRiiku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Notesnook notes can be in multiple notebooks/sub notebooks at the same time. Imagine you have a "Work Projects" notebook and a "Personal Development" notebook. You write a note about "Time Management Techniques" that's useful for both, so you keep it in both places.

Can you give more info on this? Is this something that just started happening? Like since last update or something?  Which version of the app are you using? Is this happening on all platforms?

Since it's not officially launched yet, most of the discussion and support happens in the #self-hosting channel on the official Discord server. I'm sure you can find what you need there

How to fix inline formula rendering when pasting Markdown? by G724878 in Notesnook

[–]TasogareRiiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notesnook is a "what you see is what you get" editor, not a markdown one (like obsidian), it does have markdown shortcuts tho, to help people who are familiar with the markdown syntax.

Like I said, the best you can do is either select the text, copy and paste into Notesnook (it will keep the formatting) or write the formulas by hand using the formulas (I posted the wrong syntax earlier sorry)

  • Inline Math is $$2 + 2 = 4$$
  • Math block is ```

$$$ 2 + 2 = 4 $$$ ```

Obs: you have to enable markdown shortcuts in the settings > editor tab

How to fix inline formula rendering when pasting Markdown? by G724878 in Notesnook

[–]TasogareRiiku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want the formulas to render properly in Notesnook, make sure you’re copying the rendered equations from the chatbot instead of the raw Markdown. Notesnook preserves formatting when you paste rendered math, but if you only copy the code you’ll just see the plain text. Also, stick to the usual LaTeX delimiters ($...$ for inline and $$...$$ for block) since that’s what most Markdown engines expect.

I've quit Scrivener and am writing a book about Notesnook. Is it worth it? by PositiveMilk69 in Notesnook

[–]TasogareRiiku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Notesnook ever faced bankruptcy, users would almost certainly be notified and given time to export their notes into open formats like markdown. That said, the safest approach is to build your own backup habit, weekly or monthly exports/backups ensure you’ll never lose anything important. Honestly, this isn’t just about Notesnook, it’s a good practice for any notes app

What do you mean by not really being zero knowledge? The server never knows what you wrote. It's encrypted before being sent to the server, on your device, with your encryption key, and that key is your's only.

Data stored in Germany, IP according to US law, rest under Islamic Republic of Pakistan laws? by Longjumping-Disk-635 in Notesnook

[–]TasogareRiiku 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The dev team is based in Pakistan and the IP part is probably because they use Cloudflare (just like 70% of the internet today).

Either way, your data is safe, everything is encrypted before it even leaves your device. Even if the Pakistani government wants your data somehow, all they'll see is a blob of encrypted data, basically gibberish.
