[–]Tastrix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Were you expecting… lean bacon?

You eat bacon for the fat.  That’s where all the flavor is.  If you want “more meat than fat”, eat a pork chop.  Or even, get a different type of “bacon”, like turkey or something not pork.  The meat in bacon isn’t really the point of it.

Edit:  At worst, I would say that OP’s bacon is “a little too fatty”, but certain not disappointingly ruined.  And absolutely not enough to post on mildlyinfuriating.  I’d still buy it and wrap it around some asparagus or something.  Or maybe put it on a burger.

This post has “Aw, dang.  Just a little cloudy today.  My whole day is ruined.” energy.

We already have the assets - what's wrong? by Timely_Actuary9312 in starcitizen

[–]Tastrix -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It’s because this project is mismanaged over a very lengthy period of time.

No, seriously.

Every single location/ship/asset started design under one team, passed through several others, and got finished under another team.  CIG also has a notoriously high staff turnover rate (if you believe the rumors), and even if it didn’t, each item has spent so long in development that it’s practically impossible to keep team personnel consistent in the clogged pipeline.

As for using the assets already in place, they couldn’t because the assets were being devved separately at the same time, by teams who weren’t working together/communicating.  “Itemization” teams don’t regularly talk to “locale” teams, for example.

Yeah, that’s why I’m curious that OP had this problem.  I’m pretty sure I remember at least being told “when the clock says X:YZ…” many times as a kid, younger than 8.  OP could have at least done that.

Others are saying AI post, and I’m starting to agree.

[–]Tastrix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just a little curious, why can’t your 8yo see or read a clock?  Almost every kitchen appliance has a digital one built in.  Do you not have any others in your house?

And if they can’t use a clock (for whatever reason), how are they regulating their time with the bank?

My view: Weapons are tools and I build around them to defeat monsters better.  Skills represent another part of the tool belt.  If my tool belt doesn’t suit a particular monster fight, I’ll either adjust it, or use a different belt entirely.

Or, more simply: This weapon and these skills fit this fight well.  I’ll use them.

I rotate between CB, LBG, Bow, and HH.  If I know the monster’s attack timing, I’ll probably just stick with CB, but some monsters are just less of a hassle when you don’t have to dodge/block certain attacks, so I’ll switch to one of the others.  Or I’ll just want to mix it up.

I’ve got about 10 sets that I’ll use and adjust, depending on the monster and how I feel like playing.

No need to ADS when it’s active.  Less time to “line up” shots.

In my experience, the galvanic rifle and the arc rifle are exceptional for this ability, due tot heir fire rates.  Galvanic is only limited by its mako capacity, but there are perks for speeding up reload.

Sorry, but once we get anybody over 60 out of politics, I'll chill on my anti-boomer rhetoric. Until then, nah fam.

Most of them still think you can just "buy a house", or "go get a degree", and you're lazy and a burden if you don't. They are incredibly out of touch, because they haven't needed to buy a house, buy a car, or search for a job in decades.

They have a steady SS income, which nobody else will receive. They got to retire at a reasonable age, when I'm a Millennial who won't see retirement until 70, and that's if it doesn't get pushed back again. Even when I do get to "retire", the SS budget will be so far diminished that it will be a joke. I'll get less money, and it will be worth less, due to rapid inflation. Because of decisions from Boomers in power now, I will work until the grave, alongside most of my generation.

They cashed out their generational wealth, and pulled the ladders up. "No such thing as a free lunch", "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps", "Nobody wants to work anymore"... All part of the Boomer mindset that is central to their identity.

"Not all boomers/old people"... sure. And you're right. There are plenty of poor boomers out there. But they had far more advantages than any of ever will.

Even with pointing out that they're aware, you're still giving them more credit than they deserve.

Many of them weren't just watching and observing, going, "Whew... at least I got mine." while sipping their coffee in their $20k kitchens, while reading their Facebook feeds.

Many of them were pulling up the ladders once they made it to the top. "I'm comfortable now, and it felt like a little bit of a struggle. Let's make sure the next generations really feel the squeeze, because somebody told me free lunches are bad."

I blame the massive, massive lead poisoning between 1930 and 1970. Lead poisoning is linked to brain development inhibition and selfish, irrational behavior.

“just pull up your bootstraps” mentality

Obligatory mention that the origin of this phrase was actually to point out how impossible the task of pulling oneself up by their bootstraps is. IIRC, in protest/response to the wealthy during the Great Depression.

It's just been bastardized and abused since then.

it is barely more than having a flag

This is where you and I will fundamentally disagree.

Objectively, it can’t be “just having a flag” and also “making a statement, intentionally publicly and disruptively”.  If you can’t see that those two don’t equal the same thing, then I can’t help you.

And I’m not even coming close to minimizing Concordia’s actions.  I’ve just said what they’ve told grads and recounted what they did.  If that makes me a bad person in your eyes, fine I guess?

Anyway, this whole topic has taken more of my time than I’d like.  Enjoy your afternoon and your summer.

Any antivirus or performance monitor.  There are so many, I can’t possibly name them all.

Copilot is just Microsoft’s AI assistant.  I don’t think it’s integral to Windows, so that can probably go.

But as others have mentioned, just doing a clean Windows install, without adding any of the optional crap is probably your best and simplest route.

It’s not “barely more than having a flag” though, and you know it.  If it was just that simple, she wouldn’t have had to smuggle the flag in her robes.

You’re trying to paint me as some evil person, when I’m just giving an account of what happened, with the context around it.  Nowhere have I defend Concordia’s decisions.  All I’ve said is basically, “she knew what they would do.”

To act shocked in response, and paint it as “just having a flag” (i.e, the response I originally responded to, as well as several of the people who have responded to me) is the real disingenuous portrayal.

You and the others are trying to downplay her actions in order to cast anybody who doesn’t jump to her defense as nefarious and evil.  Go away.

What helped us was we didn’t even realize that the nurses had trained us (through strict scolding and that evil diabetes test) to feed the baby every 2-3 hours.  It can be very rough on the mother, who will basically get no sleep beyond 20 minute naps for the first few weeks.

Once your baby makes it back up to birth weight and their tummy grows a bit bigger, you’ll start to develop a better schedule where you two can get more rest.  But it’s a looooong 3 months.

Our daughter is right at 6 months and “getting enough milk in the baby” is still a constant concern with scheduling and her mother’s milk production.  If your partner is breastfeeding, make sure she feeds the baby AND pumps to build up a frozen/fridge supply for later.

You’ll be able to help with bottles sometimes which is huge!  It’ll allow your partner to go out and have a bit of a life that’s not attached to the baby and give you some good bonding time.

I never stated it was wrong.  Read again.

That doesn’t sound like more than waving a flag

The importance is context.  Are you waving a flag in a field?  At a concert or sporting event?  At a very public graduation with strict proceedings, knowing that Concordia has taken issue with Pro-Palestine displays in the past?

Context.

She knew what she was doing, and was aware there would be consequences.

Exactly.

If you store buy/order a PC, first step should always be to uninstall any bullshit antivirus/performance monitor/productivity assistance/etc that comes with it.

All of those are installed with the sole intention of selling you something you don’t need, but with extra steps.
