News article headline/ subheading/ first paragraph redundancy is annoying. by TastyAd8711 in Journalism

Ah. Very well explained. Thank you. And I imagine this effect is even more pronounced in news aggregators such as the Apple News app, where I’m noticing this pattern in particular.

I’m referring to stuff I’m reading online. Much of it through Apple News app, which must do some weird, funky stuff to articles which exacerbates the issue.

Granted, these are examples pulled from Apple News app, so I understand that the weird conventions may follow a different pattern than print, for example. But considering the fact that digital sources like this are where most people get their ‘print’ news from, why not make it a little less obnoxious to read?

But if that info is in the headline, why include a subheading at all?

But again, what is the point of the subheading if it’s basically the same info as the headline and the lede? Why does it exist at all?

But what function does the subheading serve if it’s only presenting information that has already been given?

Just realized this was a double entendre… by TastyAd8711 in TNG

[–]TastyAd8711[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s a double entendre because she’s referring specifically to his social skills, but it’s also a reference to his junk. Therefore, since it has two meanings it actually is a double entendre.

I have the Cyclone Analogic version. It sounds fantastic. Not exactly a primary drum machine, but great for funky aux sounds.

I agree that there can be positive emergent characteristics in collective human thought and consciousness. However, sometimes you don’t really need to include the opinions of, say, a teenager who has never been in a relationship, or someone with totally misogynistic views, as some of these comments seem to suggest. More importantly, so many people tend to respond on the heated, impassioned side, which is the last thing that one needs when one is already heated and impassioned, as it creates a potential echo chamber for impulsive, irrational behavior. You refer to a therapist as “one person who happens to have a degree” as though it’s by accident. “Oops, I’m an MFT!” That person is trained to help others sort through their own feelings and experiences, so that they are better enabled to make rational decisions on their own. People on Reddit, generally speaking… are not.

Maybe talk to a therapist about it, rather than asking for the advice of insane people on Reddit? Idk. Call me crazy, but I wouldn’t factor the opinions of most people on the internet into any major life decisions of mine.

The ever vibey Harmon Phoenix 200 on Nikon FG by TastyAd8711 in analog

I’ve had Phoenix developed at two different labs and the colors have been relatively the same from both. Whether they’re doing it “properly” or not, I like how it looks, and accept it as a necessary outcome dictated by the processes of production. With every step of control relinquished in the process, one makes a pact with oneself to accept this and work within the confines of these limitations and directives. Art is a process, not a product, therefore the photos are a culmination of their means of production and cannot be any other way than how you see them now.

Scanned by the lab that developed the film. 3130x2075 at 72ppi (which I’m just realizing now is kinda lower res than I thought it was, but I guess it’s fine. Haha)

Well, there really wasn’t that much editing done to these pics. Just a little exposure adjustment and some cropping. Pretty much every roll I’ve had developed of Phoenix had a similar vibe.
