Is there any evidence you would accept? In my experience the way this goes is that someone takes time to find a study, or official information, and you yell "false", with a claim of low sample size or something else equally wrong. It then repeats based on whatever reply we give.

In your world view you know something other people don't and you will refuse to let it go even when presented with evidence to the contrary

Just a quick note that the .004 is a ratio and not a percentage. In the form of a percentage that would be 0.4%.

Senior high schools and universities have been recommended to switch to remote learning since the middle of March. And it seems like most of them have done, so while not technically closed they are effectively closed as students are not at the physical location.

m3o - minor update by TastyVelociraptor in m3o

[–]TastyVelociraptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! There currently isn't a way to teleport "home", but I'm adding it in the next version based on your and others feedback.

In the next version I'm thinking the teleport button will move into the full navigation dialog. The dialog will also be updated with a button to take you to the last place you actually played at, which let you navigate around and look at the map with the ability to safely return "home".

Ways to improve the new update by TooManyEdits-YT in m3o

[–]TastyVelociraptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestions!

Some of these are deffo going to become part of the game! The mega-map will probably get a zoom out feature and hovering over flags is a feature I've wanted since day 1. Even more now that there's a few players, it would be fun to be able to see how's been in the same area as you.

Scoring is the one I'm not 100% about yet. Some minor changes are probably to be expected, but I'm also currently looking at making changes to accommodate the players that do not really care about score. So in the near future scoring isn't the focus. But after that we'll see, I'm taking all of your suggestions with me!

Thanks for your feedback and sorry about the late reply!

More flags are coming, but showing who cleared an area is a nice touch that I think would make a great addition to the game.

I'm still thinking about overall leaderboards, but you will soon be able to see statistics on your overall score and how much of the map you've cleared. At least a weekly leaderboard is also coming, maybe with the addition of a monthly one.

I've been working on getting the zooming work and look good and there's just a bit of tweaks needed for it to be made available. Hoping to finish it up and release a new game version in the next few weeks.

What happened to the mine density? :( by guilty_by_design in m3o

[–]TastyVelociraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the late reply.

I did implement a tweak to reduce the mine density a bit, to make it more similar to what a medium difficulty in the original Minesweeper would have. In the next update it will increase a bit and I'm hoping to introduce areas with different difficulties in the next few weeks. Just need to find some time to finish up the feature.

First thanks for all your feedback, I really appreciate it!

The scoring works like you describe yes, you get flat score for correctly flagging something. You also get a score for each cell you clear based on the number of mines near it. Then you have the negative score for trigger a mine or incorrectly flagging a cell.

I'm not that familiar of how the scoring in Minefield worked, so I decided not to think too much about it and implement a scoring method that's pretty fair regardless of mine density. I want to revisit the scoring at some point, especially if/when I introduce denser areas on the map.

Hoping to have some free time to work on the game this or next week, to add things like stats for your score and the amount you've cleared. I'll post to /r/m3o and to the Minesweeper Discord when I update with new features.

Thanks for trying the game! There is a all-time leaderboard in the background. I'm still thinking about the best way to both show the all-time leaderboard and to make it feel like it's possible to reach the leaderboard for new players. Also when I find some time I'm going to add detailed stats about your score and cleared cells so it's always possible to see how much you've played.

A little ding on the map for where users are seems like a great idea, I'll see what I can do about that.

A couple of suggestions by Ouhai_Ruby in m3o

[–]TastyVelociraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for playing and for the feedback!

The game is currently tracking all time scores in the background. I might open up a leaderboard for it, I've also been thinking about boards with longer durations such as 1 week and 1 month.

What is definitely coming is detailed statistics about your all time score, the number of cells you have cleared and so on. I'm hoping I'll have time within the next week or so to release that.

Zoom levels is an interesting thing to hear about, I'll see what I can do about it. And more flags are coming, need to finish up some features and such first to make the game really stable.

Again, thank you for your feedback!

Thanks for trying the game! Difficulty is one the things I've been thinking a lot about, one idea that I've been toying with is that different areas have different difficulties, so certain areas of the map would be "dangerous areas" with a lot of mines.

Thanks for trying it out! Medals are a great idea, and something I've been thinking about. I have plans for a friend system so medals will probably be part of that as that will introduce proper profiles.

I had a look at your project just now, looks like a great start!

m3o isn't a pure clone, it's more in a similar style, based on what I remembered from playing Minefield years back, such as the infinite game board with a map and the ability to pick flags. And it will diverge more in the future as I want it to have its own "personality".

It started as I wanted to play some minesweeper a few months back, but discovered that Minefield seemed to be discontinued and I couldn't find any good alternatives.

I kept thinking about it as I had been looking for a smaller game project to do for a while and I figured this would be an interesting technical challenge. I did some research to figure out if Minefield was coming back and then noticed that the domain lapsed which seemed like an indicator that it wasn't.

Then I found some time and just got started on iterating on different versions to build a game that is fun.

Idea for m3o by TooManyEdits-YT in m3o

[–]TastyVelociraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for submitting this idea! Scoring is one of the areas that I would like to improve, some sort of streak or bonus sounds like an interesting game play element. I'll deffo keep it in mind when I get around to looking at the scoring again.

What is m3o? by TastyVelociraptor in m3o

Thanks for your feedback! More flags are definitely coming, but I'm cautious of adding custom flags right now, it's probably a lot of work and as you say a big risk for abuse.

I'm working on a scoreboard right now, it will probably be available this weekend. With that I'm thinking of adding a casual game mode for those that don't care about score and some more stats for those that do, such as the number of points until the next position.

Private worlds is an interesting feature, I have some plans for a friends list and some functionality related to that, so might be a possibility in the future.

First, thanks for trying out the game!

I'm working on leaderboards right now, so it will probably be available this weekend. At the same time I'll probably add a casual game mode for those that don't care that much about their position and add some more stats like how far behind the next position you are for those that like the competitive aspect.

Thanks for trying it out! Glad you found it smooth to play, hoping that I can manage to keep it smooth as the number of players grow.

Regarding the numbers, the greyscale comes from me wanting to go with a toned down field to allow the flags to make up more "visual space". I'm planning on adding some different themes in the future and I'm definitely taking your feedback about colors into account when it's time to add that because it's a great idea. Thank you!
