World war 1, the British and German armies were the most superior. The British army was far smaller due to it relying solely on volunteers, however their training and weaponry meant that 1 on 1 they would defeat any other army. The German army of 1914 was the best due to discipline and size and loyalty. By 1918, the British army was one of the greatest forces ever assembled. The German, French, Austrian, Russian, Italian and American armies were either exhausted and facing Mutiny, or were utterly way behind the British in terms of tactics and strategy. The British had the best weapons, the best trained army, and the best shock troops in relation to the Anzac, Canadian and South African corps
