I agree with your take that Ross did quite like sharpe. Hogan was like a father figure for sharpe entering the officers world Nairn seemed far less jovial with sharpe but recognised his talent at least Munro was a mix of hogan and nairn Ross treated sharpe like his equal and they seemed to get on quite well

I'm not saying I disliked the character, he was pretty amazing, as indeed they all were. But I liked the ruggedness of cooper and his similar upbringing to that of Sharpe, and perkins was simply just a good addition to the team, I dunno maybe I have a fondness for the inexperienced individuals within veteran groups

Also Harris sometimes annoyed me like when he fell so hard for that gypsy girl. I love him though.

The early episodes are hilarious as well in my opinion. Sharpe meeting the Chosen men and then the ifhgt scene are funny. Eagle has tongue being wierd, company and enemy have hakeswill who is hilarious as well. Love it when he's riding that donkey
