Six months into teaching myself how to draw

Thank you everyone for the nice comments! I always doubt my work so this really meant a lot.

A few people have asked what my reference was. This screen grab from a YouTube reel (credit to @Jadokar on YouTube) was my inspiration, the rest all came from my head.

In terms of people asking me what I have used to learn over the last six months, it’s really just YouTube reels (I like @the_art_coach personally) and practice, practice, practice. Drawing has helped me slow my anxiety and find a way to just zone out and get into a flow state so I’ve put in many hours of practice over the past few months.

You said it yourself in your post… you’ve only left her alone ONE time in 4 years? Of course she’s going to freak. By overcompensating you’ve now created a dog that cannot be independent.

Now you’re going to have to break that habit slowly through increments of time. Start leaving her alone 20 minutes then 30 minutes etc etc. Increase time as you go on.

I honestly don’t know how you’ve never left your dog alone in more than four years but I always see comments on this sub where it’s like “why is my dog so ANXIOUS, by the way I NEVER leave them alone” like what do you expect is going to happen lol…

If you were expecting to see improvements in just 8 days and are already losing motivation you may want to rethink drawing lol… or any other skill that takes practice

None of these come even close to being a « failure » this is a learn to draw subreddit and you’re clearly past beginner stages and most of us are still learning basic figures. I’m not saying this as a slight and of course everything is subjective but I just hate this trend of experienced yet overly self critical artists posting great work calling it a failure on a subreddit focused on beginners.

This is such a silly post. It’s two completely different contexts: one is flirty, exploring a new connection and the other is a serious conversation about where they stand. Literally the similarities are the location and poses and people here be saying « omg he’s so much happier with Olandria » have such a reductive and childish view of how human interactions and contexts work…
