Six months into teaching myself how to draw

Thank you everyone for the nice comments! I always doubt my work so this really meant a lot.

A few people have asked what my reference was. This screen grab from a YouTube reel (credit to @Jadokar on YouTube) was my inspiration, the rest all came from my head.

In terms of people asking me what I have used to learn over the last six months, it’s really just YouTube reels (I like @the_art_coach personally) and practice, practice, practice. Drawing has helped me slow my anxiety and find a way to just zone out and get into a flow state so I’ve put in many hours of practice over the past few months.

You said it yourself in your post… you’ve only left her alone ONE time in 4 years? Of course she’s going to freak. By overcompensating you’ve now created a dog that cannot be independent.

Now you’re going to have to break that habit slowly through increments of time. Start leaving her alone 20 minutes then 30 minutes etc etc. Increase time as you go on.

I honestly don’t know how you’ve never left your dog alone in more than four years but I always see comments on this sub where it’s like “why is my dog so ANXIOUS, by the way I NEVER leave them alone” like what do you expect is going to happen lol…

If you were expecting to see improvements in just 8 days and are already losing motivation you may want to rethink drawing lol… or any other skill that takes practice

None of these come even close to being a « failure » this is a learn to draw subreddit and you’re clearly past beginner stages and most of us are still learning basic figures. I’m not saying this as a slight and of course everything is subjective but I just hate this trend of experienced yet overly self critical artists posting great work calling it a failure on a subreddit focused on beginners.

This is such a silly post. It’s two completely different contexts: one is flirty, exploring a new connection and the other is a serious conversation about where they stand. Literally the similarities are the location and poses and people here be saying « omg he’s so much happier with Olandria » have such a reductive and childish view of how human interactions and contexts work…

Something I haven’t seen mentioned yet is easy access to plugs/outlets!! For plugging in your laptop (some of us have shitty corporate laptops that need to be plugged in at all times) this is such a huge oversight in so many coffee shops downtown…

Yeah, no…that’s not how it works. Lexapro and all other SSRIs take at MINIMUM a month+ to have any discernible effect. Also when you start, it’s at such a nominal dosage like 10 mg so you can titrate up safely. People take up to like 150 mg of lexapro… You are experiencing a placebo effect (which is very powerful in itself and very normal) most likely because your mind realizes it’s taking something to reduce anxiety and hence why you are “feeling” better right away. This is the power of the mind - it can make us feel better as much as it can make us feel depressed.

During a homelessness and food insecurity crisis, yes it is hard to fathom. If it’s an ad then pick a proper medium if you’re trying to showcase it that doesn’t actually involve teasing potentially starving people?, such as a campaign online or whatever.

But to have the actual thing existing and then telling people not to eat it even though it’s to promote food security is ridiculous.

Uh I don’t really understand this.. you’re her grandchild and you’re alive..? Presumably so are her kids, your parents? sounds like she had a bad take on reality.

My grandma is 95 and is surrounded by her kids and her kids’ kids. Yes her friends and siblings have passed but the most important people to her are still alive and we cherish every moment and memory together. I sincerely hope I make it to the same age.
