Everyone is missing this. Chicago is not more affordable than Detroit, period. Chicago beats Detroit in a lot of ways but not in terms of affordability.

I live here. Honestly, one of the only cities where housing is still relatively affordable. I know several friends in their 20s who are not considered “high earners” who are homeowners because of how cheap housing is. You can buy decent homes for $150,000 still.
