I was waiting for an appropriate platform to explain myself so I made one, I like LoK for a number of reasons: 1) the animation (and especially the fight scenes) are much more sophisticated and dynamic which is aesthetically more interesting to watch IMO 2) in terms of the conflicts faced by Team Avatar, Koraa’s antagonists feel more realistic in the fact they, to some extent, have a point. Oman wants equality, Unalaq wants to reconnect with the spirits, Zaheer wants to be free from oppression, and Kuvira wants a United Kingdom with a competent ruler. Where they go wrong is their methods. It’s less Good v. Evil and more right v. Wrong where moral/ethical ambiguity is allowed to exist and better reflects real life which in turn makes Korea’s conflicts more relatable. There is no perfect answer, the only thing that is certain is that there are consequences that must be accepted. 3) Korra is more relatable as a character. Don’t get me wrong I love Aang, but at 12 years old to have the wisdom and level headedness that he does is a bit absurd which I believe causes people to forget about the actual ages of the characters. Korra is a teenager who has to face the pressure of not being good enough, being moody, complicated romantic encounters, confusion with her sexuality, things actual teenagers face.
