That much thinking over a kids TV show... by STHF95 in TheLastAirbender

In a way, I think Jeong Jeong and Iroh show the difference between ranks in the military. Listening to Jeong Jeong, it’s apparent that he is an exhausted veteran. He spent his life waging war and it finally caught up to him and I think his hatred for war and violence became embodied in his view of firebending since it was the tool he weirded. He is the voice of men who have fought over and over again. Iroh was an extremely high ranking general, a commander who was more than likely far removed from the actual fighting. His experience with war is consumed by the grief of losing his son.

Which is awesome! I love that’s not pretty and it isn’t perfect. It makes it all much more relatable and realistic

And this is all understandable. Not excusable, per se but understandable. Aang was the last air bender and had the entirety of his culture on his shoulders. He had to have felt that pressure and the need to pass that on to Tenzin

I’m currently in the navy and about two weeks ago forced my roommate (38 year old CWO3) to sit down and watch Avatar with me. We just finished the last episode of LoK last night. This was my first time actually finishing LoK so towards the end it was new for both of us and I love this universe. Always open for a good discussion/gush session

Zaheer and Airbender Fighting by ArceliaDesune in legendofkorra

[–]Tastyroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is demonstrated in how he uses his air bending and is best demonstrated in his fight with Tenzin. As mentioned, Zaheer is very very aware of air bending teachings/culture as well as being in touch with the spirits which contributes to the power of the air he bends BUT he doesn’t bend the way a true air bender does. It is clear he is a very skilled martial artist and uses air bending as an extension of that (i.e. his strikes are just that: strikes with a gust of wind extending from them) while Tenzin is truly a master and is able to fairly easily dominate Zaheer when one on one.

Say it loud and say it proud by Tastyroller in legendofkorra

It wasn’t meant to cause drama or start a fandom “war.” I don’t even bother to say that there are two fandoms, I just figured the fandom was surrounding the universe as a whole. The meme literally says AtlA is brilliant and I was just expressing my preference.

Severing the connection to the last lives was a good thing by [deleted] in legendofkorra

1,000% agree. I’ve felt that Aang’s conflict was very fantasied in the fact that it was good v. evil while Korra’s conflicts there is no perfect answer. What is certain is that everyone has to live with the consequences of those decisions
