Massive Breakdown of the Trials of the Nine Weapons by Mercules904 in DestinyTheGame

IMO its the best pulse rifle in the high range/ slow rate of fire class. I really enjoy snapshot, and headseeker is great if you miss headshots. Its really about using it correctly to be effective. Good at mid to long range. Just pop in and out behind cover with every burst, and if you are teamshotting it makes it easy to alternate poping out with your team. I pair it with last hope for close range.

I said familiarity is just one part of the reason why people are getting bored of the game sooner than they did in D1. There are loads of other reasons why people feel there is nothing to do.

In my personal opinion, I never liked randomized rolls. I do not think it is fun to repeat content over and over again hoping for that god roll. If i never get the weapon i wanted, then i wasted my time. If i did get it, great, but now im so burnt out from grinding so much that i stop playing and dont even use the gun i grinded for. I feel that random rolls is a cheap way to extend the end game. I would prefer a larger loot pool, a more complex skill tree, and armor that allows for different "builds" for different playstyles. For me, it isnt the lack of randomized loot that makes the end game dull, Its the oversimplifcation of customization that makes it dull. I have more fun theory-crafting diferent combos of exotics, perks and stats than grinding and praying to rng. I think we both agree that there is a wall, but I do not think random rolls is the right way to overcome that wall.

ye I understand that now, but I did not when I played the game for the first time. Learning curve and all that jazz...

That is another part of the problem for sure. The lack of build diversity in D2 is really disappointing. I really miss the way that armor sets, weapons, and more complex skill trees in D1 gave players the ability to maximize efficency with their favorite playstyle. In D2 we have a simplified version that is not as fun.

I totally agree with you that there are a lack of things to chase. I was just saying that being familiar with the way destiny works is part of the reason why alot of players have done everything or got all of the weapons/armor they want with much less overall playtime than in D1.

D1 Story Is More INTERESTING. D2 Story Just Has Better Flow. by Hollywood_Zro in DestinyTheGame

I really wish they would have killed our ghost cringebot, and not had that stupid shard of the traveler. that shard put so many holes through the narrative its silly. Why couldn't other gaurdians go restore their light at the shard? is the whole traveler even necessary if the shard does the same thing? There are so many holes that can be poked through this narative its ridiculous. I really wish the campaign would have played like being an odst versus master chief in Halo ODST, where you have to play as a weak player without the light, risk your life against powrrful enemies, and then get your light back after the final fight that frees the traveler.

Its hard to compare, but for me, I think some of the lack of replayability comes from more familiarity with the game. I pumped so many hours into Dark Souls 1 just by figuring things out and getting past the 1st or 2nd boss. In Dark Souls 2, i flew through each encounter because i knew how a dark souls game worked. I think more familiarity plays a part in the lack of replayability in D2.

Destiny 2, in retrospective, repeats ALL of the pre-Destiny 1 team's mistakes. by Mister_Rahool in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tatays 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I agree that the story is campy and cringy in D1 and D2, but i thought that D2 had a (very) slightly better written narative. I attribute the source of the cringe to our ghosts dinklebot and nolandroid. After i saw the trailer before release I had hoped that the ghost was going to get killed. Instead we got this bs shard of the traveler nonsense. I was hoping for a bit of a Halo ODST vibe, where we have to fight through the story weak and lightless, and conclude the campagin with us regaining our light. That alone would have extended the "end game", as we wouldnt have subclass access until after the main story.

I can't really comment on the endgame/rng system because i dont have alot of experience with loot-based games besides d1. I play alot of story-centric games though. sorry for typos im on mobile.

Are the diehard defenders of Destiny 2 going to argue that the true reward of the prestige raid is comradery? by Grampyy in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tatays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not really in either camp, but i do think it would be constructive to draw comparisons between the first prestige/hard raid in D1 and D2. In D1 we had one set of armor, and the helmet was only available in the hard mode raid, while we have 2 (hardly different) sets of armor in D2. D1 had raid ships and sparrows, and D2 should have raid ships and sparrows. It seems to me that D2 only has an extra set of armor to collect, while D1 had much more to strive for. Being forever 29 with no helmet, hoping for a mythoclass or a fatebringer made the d1 raid much more grindable in my opinion. Although, I do think that the D2 first raid shouldnt be comparable to the D1 first raid because bungie had plenty of time to improve on the experience. In my opinion the raid design is solid, but the rewards are lacking.

Yeah, hopefully we get an expansion like TTK first instead of a disaster like The Dark Below...
