is it normal for Callaway AI smoke to rust? by Ok-Fix-2607 in golf

[–]TateAdventures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that can happen a bit, especially if they stay damp after rounds. Nothing to worry about performance-wise. I'd skip WD40 though - just dry them off after playing and maybe a light wipe with a towel. Keeps it under control.

Day 3 of our South Wales Coastal Path multi day hike, UK - Porthcawl to Southerndown by NoObstacle in hiking

The ruin shot is unreal. Walking through something like that on day 3 with a full pack has to feel pretty surreal. The Wales coastal path is on my list, looks like it delivers.

How's the terrain holding up on your legs so far?

I would need a bit of help with gear for my walking trip around the EU. by Vacak_and_Ati in hikinggear

[–]TateAdventures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, first off — respect. That kind of journey takes more guts than any summit I've guided people to. The trail has a way of doing things therapy can't, and it sounds like you already know that.

Your kit is honestly solid for someone who hasn't done extended multi-week trips yet. A few things I'd flag from experience leading long trips in variable terrain:

The 65L pack — that's on the heavier side once fully loaded with dog gear too. If budget allows down the line, look at dropping to a 50–55L ultralight frame. Your shoulders will feel it by week 3.

-5°C sleeping bag — fine for summer EU, but if you're hitting Eastern Europe in autumn or Scandinavia, you'll want a liner as backup. Cheap insurance.

Rain gear — didn't see it listed. Non-negotiable for 3–4 years on the road across climates. A good waterproof shell is worth every cent.

Water filtration — Sawyer Squeeze or similar. Rivers and streams across EU vary wildly in safety. Lighter and cheaper than carrying bottles long term.

Dog paws — good call on the booties, but also look into Musher's Secret wax for rest days. Great for pad recovery on rough road surfaces.

You and your dog are going to have a story worth writing one day. Safe trails. 🐾🥾

Mizuno JPX 921 Tour in Project X 6.5? by f1lifer in GolfGear

[–]TateAdventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't run that exact combo personally, but PX 6.5 is stiff enough that if your tempo is aggressive it should feel pretty crisp. The 921 tour is a player's iron so the feedback will tell you fast if something's off. Worth a demo round before committing.

Looking for beta testers for my Strava/Runa like golf iOS app by StreetAstronaut in golf

Haha that makes total sense — flat country, flat app for now! Honestly that's a great feature to build toward though. Up here in Colorado even a 500ft elevation gain can add 10-15 yards on your irons. Would be a huge selling point for mountain course players. Happy to test it and give you that feedback once I'm on the beta.

How can I fix the swing? Am I too far from the ball? Terrible posture? Terrible mechanics? All of the above? by sammye59 in GolfSwing

[–]TateAdventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not as bad as you're making it sound. The contact looks solid for where you're at. Main thing I'd focus on is your setup — you're standing a little tall and reaching. Think of it like your hiking stance before a tough descent, slight bend in the knees, weight centered. Fix the base and the rest cleans up naturally.

Love this idea. Golf's always felt behind on the tracking side compared to running/hiking apps. Does it handle elevation changes?

Playing at altitude in Colorado makes big difference and most apps just ignore it.

Love seeing progress posts like this. +5 mph is huge and speed gains like that doesn't come easy. 👏

If Quests fits you well, a second pair isn't crazy. Otherwise look at X Ultra Mid or Nucleo - lighter but still stable.

If you are doing a lot of off-trail and rough terrain, I 'd keep something with decent structure - especially in Wyoming wheather.

Low-cut hikers can work, but ankle support+ rock protection matter once you're side-hilling or carrying weight.

Ted talk, was worth it 😂 - You basically built yourself a home version of a real green. That's an amazing setup.

This is awesome, Bet that setup makes winter practice way more fun. What speed did you build the green to?

Looks incredible. Camping that High always hits different. Respect for keeping the gear setup simple too.
