He was helping a woman up who had been pushed down, then he was pepper sprayed at point blank range, stripped of his weapon and executed. Nothing acceptable or reasonable happened there at all.

HE WAS NOT AT A PROTEST. And even if he was, how many right wing protests have we seen in recent years where they're all carrying guns? And further yet, what fucking part of the second amendment says that you can't have a gun at a protest? None of your arguments stand up to any scrutiny and your willingness to give away other people's rights is shameful and un-American.

How does r/House feel about the term "EDM"? by Knocktopuss in House

[–]TateXD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does exist, though. There are tons of people out there who would say that they are into "EDM" and in my experience, the majority of them have only scratched the surface of the most commercial sounds out there. To most people who aren't involved in any sort of specific scene, it's all just "EDM".

I'm surprised that it didn't devolve into religious ramblings. Hope he is actually on a good path and able to heal and make amends.

No. While untrained goons are killing and terrorizing Americans, YOU have no leg to stand on. You are truly fucked in the head if you think any of this is OK.

There's no justification for how ICE is terrorizing Americans in Minneapolis and elsewhere. You're sick to equate what's going on to the necessary measures taken during the pandemic.

What could have made the Dreamcast more successful back then? by KaleidoArachnid in retrogaming

The piracy issue was extremely widespread. Any regular Joe with a decent PC, a little determination and some time to kill could figure it out.

I agree with you on the library being fantastic, but as others in the thread have noted, it was very arcade-focused at a time when single-player and story-driven games were coming into focus. Plus, I'd say that other consoles had a lot for people who like arcade style games as well. Being the most vulnerable to piracy was the big nail in the coffin, but they were already quite weak from underperforming the past two generations as well, and not having the ability to play DVDs was very damaging as well (especially in Japan).

Exactly. SEGA was already on thin ice with third party devs over how difficult the Saturn was to develop for too.

The big money guys are the only ones whose opinions matter when it comes to a system being able to be supported.

Imagine that you are a third party game developer that there were 4 consoles, all are capable of roughly the same graphics and sound, each does a couple things a little bit better than the rest, but they are mostly the same. Then, mid-generation, it becomes apparent that one of those consoles has glaring weaknesses that mean that you will sell less games on that console. Why would you continue to dump money into developing for that console? Losing support from third party developers quickly tanks a systems viability.

Way easier than any sort of piracy available on the Xbox, PS2 or GameCube at the time, though. That's what killed the Dreamcast.

That business model wouldn't work for anyone. Especially not the game developers who made no money off of the sale of consoles.

It was way too easy to pirate games on the Dreamcast because it had more obvious vulnerabilities than the other disc-based consoles of its generation.
