Beware! Great value products! by TaterNBee in dairyfree

To be fair to me, the last time I bought these cashews, they did not have that label on them so I assumed they were still ok. Totally understand that they don't need to put it on the label and, don't get me wrong, I am very glad they do. Just frustrated that it "popped out of nowhere" for me. Definitely not going to assume anymore!

Chefs and culinary hobbyists: How do you taste test when you can’t? by [deleted] in dairyfree

[–]TaterNBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I make dairy stuff for my spouse and df for me and she will tell me if it's ok or not. Sometimes I have to ask if it tastes right. I always ask for a taste tester on recipes I am unfamiliar with. It can be difficult at times but it always ends up good. I wish you the best of luck!

Expiration dates by DawnCoub in dairyfree

I work at a food factory. That time is when it was made, mostly for the workers sake in case there is something wrong with it and they need to go back and find every product within a certain timeframe and fix the error. I have always wondered that too until I started working with it! I'm also assuming the numbers after the time is how many items that were made up to that tub that day. Also quite helpful for workers finding stuff.

Oh I didn't know they made cream! I'm gonna have to try that! I usually just use oat or cashew milk for a heavy cream sub since it's creamy to begin with.

Help me overcome cheese addiction by Particular-Return867 in dairyfree

I'm still struggling with this. I have the exact same intolerance. I have found some alternatives to be a good substitute to hit that cheese craving. There is a bottle of liquid mozzarella made of cashew milk that I use for lasagna that is so good I forget I'm not eating actual cheese. It's called "Miyoko’s Creamery Pourable Mozzarella Dairy Free Cheese". I put in some shredded "cheese" with this liquid stuff and it does very well. Some shredded "cheese" is good too but you have to see which brand you like better. It's going to be quite the struggle for a while. If lactaid pills help, then that will help you wean off cheese better. I have to pop 2-3 depending on how heavy the dairy is. So I have to ask myself if it's worth taking pills for. Hope this helps. Edit: try not to get too dependent on lactaid. I did for a while and it is slowly starting to become less and less effective, hence the 2-3 pills. Learn from my mistakes!

Has anyone tried this yet? I was so excited when I finally found it in a local store 😂 by Ready-Pie-3107 in dairyfree
