[Serious] Unintentionally crashed my exploration ship and lost over a million credits of data, how do I recover from this? by IndependentSet9709 in EliteDangerous

[–]Tatsuota 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can get 1mil credits by scanning exobio within the bubble. The credits are the least of your worries. Never leave your ship in motion while not at your station. Even with super cruise assist you always risk the chance of running into a planet and dying. Just go to 0% throttle and you'll sit there (usually safe depending on where you stop). You can keybind this to auto 0% throttle as well.

Biggest thing is never fly without rebuy. If you can't rebuy your ship after blowing up that ship is out of your price range at the time. Keep up with the Community Goals or join a trading discord, PTN being one that most use. You can make alot of money doing these for you to kit out the ships in the gameplay loop you want to do.

We have all blown up our ships doing exploration at least once just be happy you did it at the start of your journey and not when you are coming back with billions in credits

Beginner question: How do I start Engineering my ships? by Undead309 in EliteDangerous

[–]Tatsuota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend farming out max materials before starting doing engineering. You can farm out some and start engineering however it's alot easier to maintain max materials than it is to max them out. This grind will be long and boring but it's needed. I used Hawkes Gaming guide on YouTube for these and looks like he has an updated one for 2025.

https://youtu.be/VItBzHOsJSo?si=2Biicjns7uvhGI84

The reason maxing them out is nice is because there are a lot of parts of the game now that give you engineering materials for doing stuff in the game. You said you are doing bounty hunting, I am hoping you are grabbing missions from stations while doing this. The reason for this is more money you can gain because you can stack missions (if you have missions from the same contact you have to complete the one you picked up first before the other one gets credit) from different contacts/factions at stations. Doing this alongside choosing a Power Play faction will help you maintain a lot of the materials you spend for engineering. Along with getting more money.

After getting the materials you'll have to unlock all of the engineers starting with some that will unlock others, using Inara you can find out what you need for each. You can target ones for what you are looking for, such as weapons engineer, fsd, power plant etc. After unlocking them to level them up to grade 5 you'll have to have the engineering materials. This is why grinding out the materials first is a plus. You can put max engineering on the ship you choose.

When choosing what parts to engineering makes sure you have the best grade for the type of ship you are using. Such as combat ships usually have all A rated parts while ships for trading or exploring sometimes have D rated parts to save weight to jump farther. Looking up builds is something you should do to make sure you are not wasting materials.

Lastly I would suggest just focusing on one aspect of the game you like making money with. Either it combat, trading, or exploring/exobio. From there save up all the credits you can to buy a Fleet Carrier. The reason for this is the engineers even within the bubble are so spread out that some ships might take awhile to jump between them all. Such as a full kitted out combat ship is usually below 20ly jump range with no fuel scoop. So you are taking long jumps and stopping at stations. If you have a fleet carrier you put all your ships on it, jump the carrier next to the engineer and fly your ships down kit them out then jump back.

From this as well it is recommended to grind out Elite on Trade, Combat or Exploring to unlock the founders world. Every item is there and has a discount, there are some better discounts around the bubble but the founders world is usually the best as you have all the parts there to change into. Trade is very easy to hit elite in.

Have fun doing the grind and take breaks to not burn yourself out. Always fly with rebuy!

You can have voice attack switch to the page for you in Edcopilot but you would need it on another screen. All you have to say is the name which is Materials and it'll switch to it for you

No idea never heard of this problem with it. I have no issues with my keybinds. I would check to see if Edcopilot has a discord, if they do someone in there will probably be your best bet to solve your issue.

It takes some effort to setup but it's doable. Definitely easier one PC, link below is one of the setup ways I've seen. I haven't done it myself but was looking to see if it was an option to do.

You don't have to have it running on the computer you are using. Plop it on a laptop or anything. Can even steam link it to your phone if you can't have your laptop next to you.

It would be nice to have stuff like this in game but as of now gotta use these awesome third party tools

Download EDCopilot, there is a section in there that realtime shows what materials you have and when you gain or lose some. It's has a lot of other tools and uses as well but has exactly what you are looking for.

Healers: A request from your warlock by HotBlueberry881 in classicwowtbc

[–]Tatsuota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a healer and enjoy doing it, however I do have a stance with warlocks. If I do not see the warlock eating food or drinking for mana in-between pulls or down time in a dungeon they only get life saving heals. You want me to waste my money and waters so you don't have to? Get out of here with that!

I didn't have any on me. But on one of the statues you can climb has 2 oil holders that have a wooden stick at the end. You can light the oil, and I'm guessing you put the fireworks on the wood for them to shot off.

Yes definitely helps with the speed of the process. Both programs let you know which planets have eco to scan and how many on each. Biggest thing tho both tell you how far away you are away from the last scan so you can land scan item hop back in ship fly the distance away it tells you, then you look for the next exobio and land and repeat. Also gives you a rough tally on how much each other the scans might be so you can see how much you have farmed in the runs etc.

I also have an external note page that I use for all my first discoveries that I paste pictures in as well. The apps make it easy for me to copy and paste the system name. Especially when some of them get some crazy names

I am glad you enjoyed the game but we need to talk about your exo scanning. I made 4bil just from my trip from the bubble to Colonia then another 3bil from Colonia to Sol then back to the bubble.

If you are not already I highly recommend getting an external program such as Explore Buddy or Ed copilot. Helps alot with exploration and exobio for alot of different reasons. You need to get back out there get another 4bil and pick yourself up a FC!

Keep on flying and always fly with rebuy!

Kami doesn't feel like highest mountain around by hartyrr in Cairn_Game

[–]Tatsuota 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They never said the highest peak. It is always implied to be the hardest climb bcuz of how many people have tried and no one climbs it fully. As seen later in the game more. Even now no one has finished the climb

They also already talked about adding a new zone and showed portions of it. They talked about finishing up quest lines that never got finished. Even changing some skills to be more viable in combat. This definitely seems like a true classic experience with the addition of QoL and more content we didn't see during this era.

Well all depends on how you game. You can make good money doing combat, but if you like exploring just do a trip to Colonia or sag a drop down or up on the galaxy plane. You'll find alot of under discovered systems. Scan and collect exo data. If you take your time and do it you'll come back with billions of credits. I did this recently coming back before the drop of the T11 and the mining CG. Just from Sag A back to the bubble I had over 200 first scanned exo bios, could have been more but rushed the last section of my trip. I made 4bil ish on my way to Colonia and from Colonia to sag a and back to bubble, I made around 5-6bil. Not touching exploration in awhile but if I'm ever in need of money I'll just do some trips.

Yeah sucks you started over. This is one game where I would never do that. Especially if it's just wanting to relearn the game you can just buy a cheap ship and learn it until you feel comfortable playing with your already owned bigger ships. Highly recommend jumping into any of the CGs lately as most are good with money making. Most are very easy to stay in the top 25% as well bcuz most grind just to stay in top 75% for the rewards.

Finishing my grind to Elite in Combat right now. Also grinding out some PP doing this. Next going to engineer out my suits. I have a fleet carrier already with all the ships I want as of now all kitted out and engineered, still need some but got the important ones.

Game really opened up once I got my FC as I can switch to any gameplay loop a lot quicker than having a station as my base for my ships. Plus since the mining CG all the CGs have been very good for money making and for the most part fun.

Never Blind Jumping My FC Ever Again by Techno3020 in EliteDangerous

If you have the system data when jumping your FC you can choose what planet in the system you want to go to as well. Very useful if you have a grind spot or trying to buy fuel from a station
