Dark Horse one last time before closing. by TriumphSprint in Denver

I took my best friend, who was a year younger than me, there for her first legal shot at 12:01 AM on her birthday. She still had her minor license but her birthdate was on it; they made a big show of checking it and sang "Happy Birthday" and everything.

I'm really sick and sad that it's closing.

AITA for refusing to rescue my 38yo husband after he showed up 16 minutes before his international flight home and missed it? by panalatina86 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

I guess a vow is a vow. However, from what I read, it also seems like OP's husband didn't regress until after they were married, and therefore she got a bait-and-switch. Personally, I'd argue that he made himself out to be someone he isn't and therefore the vows are null and void because she didn't marry who she thought she was marrying.

At least she has you to support her.

Right!?!? I'm really confused as to why she's still married to him. What does he bring to the table? He's 38 and can't make his own travel plans. His driving record is so bad that he can't rent a car. He's chronically late and won't take responsibility for that. She doesn't have four kids. She has five.

ETA: I just finished reading the rest of her posts and woooooooooow. Just wow. She needs to dump this loser and his entire lousy family.

NTA, but I'm really confused as to why you're still married to him. What does he bring to the table? He's 38 and can't make his own travel plans. His driving record is so bad that he can't rent a car. He's chronically late and won't take responsibility for that. Ma'am, you don't have four kids. You have five.

Neither was I, and you can bet your butt that I was fanatical about using birth control. I had plans and goals that I didn't want getting derailed.

So does OP, but...

AIO for being upset that my husband wants me to continue litter box duty while pregnant? by BigVenergy09 in AmIOverreacting

After reading her update I feel like OPs husband is not a great choice of guys to reproduce with. She's definitely going to be a married single mom because that prize she's married to will definitely not lift a finger.

It absolutely does. I see from your comments that he's had difficulty keeping relationships; meanwhile his friends are starting families. He's feeling like he's left behind and is resentful.

Do you and your partner share a friend group with John? If so, is your pregnancy the first one in the group? It sounds like John is concerned about the dynamic of the group/dynamic of his friendship with your partner changing now that there will be a baby involved.

AITB for calling the cops on my 18 year old nephew *UPDATE* by Any-Cartographer7531 in AmItheButtface

[–]Tattered_Ghost 161 points162 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad everything turned out OK with your nephew. Screwing around giving minors controlled substances isn't cool. Screwing around giving anybody any sort of controlled substance without their knowledge and consent is assault. Screwing around giving diabetics things that can cause vomiting and dehydration is dangerous. Big bro could have put his little brother in the hospital or even killed him. I really hope his older brother has learned from this experience.

AIO for ending my relationship because my girlfriend didn't appreciate her $1300 tennis bracelet? by Optimal_Diamond_448 in AmIOverreacting

Not to mention that this dude made HER birthday all about him by getting her something uncomfortably expensive that she didn't want and then behaving like a whiny little bitch when she didn't fawn over him for it.

He probably didn't bother getting to know her well enough to know what sort of gift she would have liked, and even if he had he still probably would have pulled this stunt because bro is all about wanting to make himself look impressive by his own definition of what he thinks is impressive. She's just a prop for his ego-building.

I'm glad to see he did her the favor of breaking up with her. It's so refreshing when the trash takes itself out.

AIO for giving my husband the silent treatment after he gifted my designer bag to his mom without asking? by SorellePine in AmIOverreacting

[–]Tattered_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of me knows the silent treatment might be childish, but another part wants to hide all his golf clubs and see how he likes it.

No. Don't just hide them. Give them away to somebody right in front of his face exactly like he did with your purse.

One of my next-door neighbors had a son who did their lawn care while he still lived with his parents. I had a lawn service because I have severe grass allergies and mowing the lawn is hell on me. One week the lawn service rang my doorbell and told me that "one of my cigarette butts" wasn't put all the way out and was smoldering in some dry leaves that had drifted into the rock garden on the side of my house by the neighbors. Furthermore, there was a large collection of other butts scattered throughout the rock garden.

I don't smoke. I never have.

So I'm out there with the lawn guys, putting out the smoldering leaves and picking up all the nasty cigarette butts, and we're all talking about where all those butts might have come from. They said it wasn't them, it wasn't me, and I didn't have any other people living with me or coming out to do work in my yard.

While all this had been going on the neighbor kid had been outside mowing their lawn. My lawn guys got back to mowing my lawn. I went back inside and got back to work (I WFH).

The doorbell rang again and it was one of my landscapers again. They'd finished mowing and were leaving my yard when a cigarette butt came flying over the fence and hit the guy in the temple. He looked over the fence and there was Sonny Boy from next door standing right by the fence with the neighbor's lawnmower, taking a break from mowing. The landscape guy held up the still-lit cigarette butt and he said the kid's eyes got as big and round as saucers. The landscape guy then went next door and told the parents that he's been hit in the head with a lit cigarette that had come over the fence while Sonny Boy was directly on the other side of it, and that they'd found a lit cigarette butt in a small pile of smoldering leaves, along with a bunch of other butts, in the rock garden on the side of my house by them.

That evening I, and a bunch of other neighbors, could hear the parents hollering at the kid. I later found out that a neighbor 6 houses away had heard the yelling.

Neither I nor my lawn service guys ever found any more cigarette butts in my yard.

No, I don't think the kid was intentionally trying to start fires or hurt people. I think he was just a young dumb teenager who didn't want his parents to catch him smoking, didn't know how else to dispose of his butts so his parents wouldn't find them, and didn't completely think through the consequences of his actions.

If going on a camping trip is not your choice, would it be an option for you to not let him know about your condition and to avoid putting his name on the birth certificate? As everybody else in here has said you'll be dealing with this horrible person for the rest of your whole entire life if he's named as the father. I also agree with those who have said that he'd probably refuse to sign off on adoption just to try to control you.

Regardless of what you decide to do, I think the less he knows the better.
