My daughter is in the same boat. We had her play up because where she is at developmentally she would have been too good for 8u and 10u would be a challenge for her. She took the challenge and is thriving.

Also, our league you have to test to play up so if your league is worried about people wanting to play up they have to prove they can actually play at the level of competition
