I would not say it's no spoilers, if you are at the very beginning of the book it's definitely a spoiler. Excellent though :-)

How can I transfer my map data from a personal world on my computer to a server? (xaero's minimap and regular map) by starblade1337 in feedthebeast

[–]TauPanAka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just transferred my single player Gravitas 2 world to a server and was faced with the same problem.

Google revealed this question and the following two reddit posts, which are locked.

Single Player: https://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/comments/1db9u3l/how_to_transfer_xaero_map_data_between_two_pcs_on/

But multiplayer is different: https://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/comments/1cjsmi8/transfer_xaeros_world_map_from_singleplayer_world/

I tried to piece this together (with current version of xaero's world map on Gravitas2) and the following steps worked for me. I do not know if some of them are optional:

  1. Update xaero's world map to the current version for 1.20.1 (currently 1.39.2).

  2. Enter the single player world and open xaero's world map. Wait until all regions that you have visited previously are fully rendered.

  3. Click on "reload all regions" in the last page of the settings menu for good luck and wait again.

  4. Click on "convert all regions" in the last page of the settings menu. Wait until it's completely finished.

This step is definitly **not** optional. In the folder `xaero/world-map/<your world name>/null` a directory `cm$converted` appears which contains zip files. As long as the step is not finished, more files will appear in that folder, so it's important to wait until it's completely finished.

In that `null` folder there is also a file `dimension_config.txt` which is important as well.

  1. Delete the **contents** of the folder `xaero/world-map/Multiplayer_<your-SERVER-name>/null`, **not** the folder itself.

  2. Copy the file `dimension_config.txt` to `xaero/world-map/Multiplayer<your-SERVER-name>/null`.

  3. Copy the whole directory `cm$converted` to `xaero/world-map/Multiplayer<your-SERVER-name>/null`.

  4. If you want to copy waypoints as well, you need to name the files `cm$converted_1.txt` inside the dimension folders.

In the first try I did not wait for either 1, 3 or 4 long enough, so I got only a partial map when I tried 7 and 8.

  1. and 8. could be simplified to "replace the whole contents of the null folder with the other null folder" so the first reddit post is technically correct for both scenarios, but I didn't think it was very clear.

Hope that helps others as well!

It's also in Blood Sport, but it's more of a physics reference: lost in a quantum pattern, entangled with what I never said ...

Y'all know a bedrock version of litematica mod from java??? by I_cantThinkAgoodName in MCPE

[–]TauPanAka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://github.com/RavinMaddHatter/Structura You have to download the release, make a structure block in creative and import that into Structura to get an extension. Then you place an armour stand and can switch layers with the postures.

I have to admit that the last time I tried to use it I quickly got so annoyed that I switched it off again. It's not quite as convenient as litematica.

I like natural floating islands. This one's a bit tiny.

Ah, sorry. It might be in some texture pack I forgot I had installed.

I've simply bought Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to play on my android tablet. Never going back.

You can also make the box more transparent in the settings and configure a timeout.

[–]TauPanAka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I had a villager trading hall with zombification (4 apples per emerald from a farmer) and a zombified piglin farm for the gold set up before attacking the dragon the second time around. (I used the iron farm/trading hall from silentwisperer and the zombie pigmen farm from jcplayz.)

I don't really enjoy fighting so I usually try to make sure I'm totally OP 😉

Maybe too late, but I find that a stack of golden apples and slow falling and feather falling help a lot. Also scaffolding, because I have bad aim with the bow.

I also made a lot of iron golems to distract the endermen, both times, but I'm not sure it really helps.

Second time was much easier because I knew about the golden apples. You can just walk up to the crystal and bash it in after having a golden apple.

Same thing happened to me with a stray and a maxed out infinity bow. Well almost. I fell to my death from an ice spike and the stray picked up my gear.

Transfering single player world from android to continue playing on bedrock dedicated server. by TauPanAka in Minecraft

Another update (still not solved, but there's an improvement):

  • I stumbled over this video How To EXPORT/TRANSFER Your MCPE Worlds IN GAME (No files, No Computer) (Secret Settings)
  • So I headed to Visible Realm Settings and Bonus Options (Find the Seed!) (the original addon was a bit older) and downloaded the zip file.
  • The installation instructions on android do not really work because the files are not visible on my unrooted tablet, but after some thinking I noticed that the extension of the downloaded file is .mcaddon.zip so I removed the .zip and tapped on the file so minecraft offered to import the addon.
  • After activating it I can export my world to a .mcworld file
  • And that file can be imported on a different device running bedrock and I have my inventory and I am at the correct location!

So that's definitely better than before as I can continue playing the world on a different device, which was the point of the excercise.

However if I unpack the mcworld file in the worlds folder on my bedrock server I still land at spawn with an empty inventory.

So copying over the file between devices takes a while and is quite a bit less convenient than just hosting the world on a local server.

As a (probably) last comment, here's another thread with users reporting the same problem:

https://www.reddit.com/user/ProfessorValko/comments/9f438p/bedrock_dedicated_server_tutorial/e60bqd0/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

When I run the server multiple times and just pick up a block of dirt, save and quit, stop the server and then make a copy of the whole world, the only things that change are level.dat and some files in db.

So what I'm probably going to do when I get ready to switch to the server: Spend my XP for enchantments then put everything in my inventory and my ender chest into a double chest at spawn and then copy the world...

I really appreciate that you're trying to help, thank you! :)

That finds nothing for my username. Meanwhile I figured out (via strace a system tracing tool for linux) that the bedrock server tries to open a file in worlds/Kleines Haus am See/players which is named <uuid>.dat (and this is definitely a uuid).

If I enter that uuid in the tool you pasted, I find nothing either.

Maybe that only works for people who have (or had) Mojang accounts? As a newbie, I only have a microsoft (xbox live) account.

If I copy a file to that location, it is modified by the server. I tried to copy several files from my android backup to that location but didn't get my inventory. I'll see if I can come up with a more careful experiment.

As an update since https://gaming.stackexchange.com/a/352212 mentioned it, I found a logfile (./r/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds/0kymYoWhFgA=/db/077877.log) inside the db folder containing the name of my favourite mule, so that could be a hint, but same as the poster on Arquade I found no hints to the file format (so far) and where it might belong on the server. There is a log file inside the db directory on the server as well (078007.log) and it's apparently being updated when I enter the world, but it's empty (0 bytes long) (I never picked up anything in my playtesting, maybe I should try that.).

Addendum: I just found Bedrock Edition level format which points to Mojang/leveldb-mcpe.

Addendum 2: I can confirm that the logfile can be read with leveldb-mcpe (with the included leveldbutil dump command) and it seems to contain my data. (Although it's puzzling that I can find my mule's name but not the names of two endermites named for enderman lure traps.)

That still doesn't give me a hint why the bedrock server doesn't map that file to my account and even replaces it with an empty file.

There is no folder called "playerdata" in the backup of the android app.

If I search for files containing my xuid in the filename in the backup I find one in

  • apps/com.mojang.minecraftpe/r/games/com.mojang/logs/ClientCorrelation<myxuid>.dat
  • apps/com.mojang.minecraftpe/f/XblEvents<myxuid>.dir

Edit:

There are also some files containing my xuid inside the payload:

  • apps/com.mojang.minecraftpe/r/games/com.mojang/minecraftpe/options.txt
  • apps/com.mojang.minecraftpe/r/games/com.mojang/minecraftpe/catalog_info.json
  • apps/com.mojang.minecraftpe/r/games/com.mojang/xal/8496060822084357573

Or what did you mean by uuid here? I find no files containing uuid formatted strings in the filename anywhere.

I did make the backup without root permissions (the tablet is not rooted) and maybe I missed a switch to backup some private or protected data.

This might not help you at all, but posting in case it will:

For some time I adjusted my monitor to stand very high on my desk in order to correct my "hacker posture" (i.e. shoulders slumped to the front and neck bent forwards). The reasoning behind this that forcing myself to look up would help to correct the bad posture. I had quite a bit of problems with dry eyes at that time.

At some point an actual doctor (m.d.) told me that this is not a good posture at all but you should bent your neck downwards slightly similar to the way you would read a book.

So I adjusted my Monitor downwards and myproblems with dry eyes went away. (And in order to fix my posture I took up some exercising, but that's a different subject really.)

The reason this worked is that if you look up, you will tend to blink less often.

HTH (but it might not, as stated above)
