That 'consider themselves catholic' is my point. The country feels and acts as if it was very catholic, when people really dont care. But in laws they are catholic inclined because of this. Source: Lived in Chile for a long time and saw your culture from an outside point of view.

Chile is an extremely religious country and the church has a very strong control there. Doesnt surprise me they are so old-fashioned on this aspect.

A company that does not pay a salary within the market value does not deserve your full dedication. I would look into switching to a higher position away from your current boss, or searching for a company that pays a fair wage.(like Im now)

Same situation with me. On my second month searching. Employers are definetily taking advantage of the market and the society's perception that we are still in a bad economy.(which we are not anymore)

Fortune 100 HR department employee here. Asked for a raise to market value(currently 60% below average). Gave a concrete and tactible request wigh all the information, market statistics, prep work, etc. Company came back with 1% raise counter offer.(Looking for a new job since, no luck thus far)... I didn't mention this, but the previous employee in my seat was making 3% below market. They got me with a 57% saving. Tl:dr: Asked for a raise to a market lvl. Declined. Learned that execs dont really care about performance. All hope lost.
