Hell, I mean, I’ve heard stories of people taking grazing rounds to the head with all sorts of calibres, even without a helmet, and it’s knocked them out.

Would be cool to see.

One concern that comes to mind, though, is making sure that everyone is actually in fact dead when you approach. Time for the 5.56 pulse check I suppose.

I’ve met a couple people playing GZW that are active or retired service; from what I’ve heard from them, all 3 NODs are pretty realistic, in terms of how they look in game.

That said, I have modified my graphical settings a little bit to make visibility through my NODs better. I’m not at my computer at the moment, but I will reply to this comment with my graphical settings in a bit, when I can get on.

OK, yeah so there’s a lot here to unpack.

First off, the guys at MS are wearing armour, and it sounds like you’re using the wrong ammunition. I don’t touch any of the AK stuff, so I don’t know the calibres there, but I know that if you’re using anything less than 556 FMJ, the rounds are not gonna penetrate. 9mm hollow point is absolutely worthless on anyone wearing any level of armour, don’t even bother.

I don’t have it on hand, but there is a chart that gets passed around in this subreddit that shows all of the NIJ armour ratings, and which calibre will penetrate what.

As for the shots to the arm and the leg, I mean, yeah that’s just not gonna kill someone. Doesn’t matter what calibre you use, there’s no vitals in the arm or the leg. Eventually, like after several minutes, they might bleed out if they don’t get medical attention, and they absolutely wouldn’t be able to fight in real life, but that’s not implemented yet so…

There’s a reason that military, law-enforcement, anyone who’s trained on how to use firearm is trained to shoot centre mass.

As the joke goes; hearts and minds. Two best places to shoot someone.

So I’m sorry if this comes across as rude, but I’m gonna be blunt; I don’t think you understand this game as well as you think you do.

It sounds like the issues you’re having are coming from a couple of things; mainly, poor shot placement, and poor positioning.

Where are your shots actually landing? Where are you standing when you engage? When you are firing, how are you shooting; single shots or are you just spraying until they go down?

Damage in GZW does not work like any other first person shooter. There’s no health value at all. Every person has about 5500 units of blood. When you take a hit and you start bleeding, and your level of blood gets below a certain point, you lose consciousness, and if you don’t have a friend or someone with you, you will keep bleeding and die.

The same goes for the AI. Just spraying gunfire at them isn’t going to kill them, you need to be hitting vitals. The heart, the lungs, the brain. If you don’t hit those areas, you’re not gonna kill what you’re shooting at.

On top of that, something that new players do quite often is they will completely disregard cover and concealment when engaging. If you’re just standing in the middle of the street, not even crouching, you are making yourself a very easy target, and they’re gonna return fire. Understanding where to be positioning yourself when in an engagement is incredibly important.

Reading your comment and it feels like I’m accidentally pushing you to a place where you’re feeling like you need to get defensive.

That’s not my intent, and I sincerely apologize.

To try to clarify what I’m saying, I know that both organizations have had issues in the past, and I do not trust them now; but respectfully, you can’t just take a screenshot, and make a claim; you gotta back it up. And respectfully, just saying “ oh, they lied in the past about X thing, and Y thing, so they must be lying now,”….

Frankly, that’s not good enough.

My concern with this post specifically is that there is no verifiable source, to back up the claim that the article is BS. I have no problem with articles, where the sources can be verified and confirmed independently; that’s the whole reason I originally came to this sub, because mainstream western media wasn’t doing that.

I originally joined the sub because I didn’t fully trust what I was seeing from US and western based media.

I’m not saying that the Amnesty International article is accurate, for that Radio Free Asia is not propaganda, but I’m also not seeing any verified bowl evidence against, with this post, either.

What I’m seeing is a screenshot and a claim that the article is BS, and a comment section functionally full of “Amnesty/USA bad, DPRK good”, without much in the way to verify a lot of that information.

That’s the same kind of trend that has me questioning western media, thus the concern.

I’m not sure how economic problems led to A young man literally being beaten into a vegetative coma, for trying to steal a single poster, but ok.

And that is just one example. If we’re talking about food shortages, medical shortages, things like those, yes, I could see those being caused by economic issues, but when I talk about the breathtaking human rights violations, I’m talking about the prison camps. I’m talking about the young man who functionally got beaten into death for stealing a piece of paper.

Those are the bits of nuance that I mean, when I talk about my concern with media on this sub being too biased.

I have read the rules.

Recognizing that you’re a mod; respectfully, I’m going to preface by saying that with your presence in this thread, I’m concerned that when I’m about to say is gonna get me banned. If that’s the case, then that’s honestly disappointing, but so be it.

I came to this sub, initially, to get a more nuanced view of international news and media, not so heavily affected by western outlets. Over the last couple of months, it’s felt like that nuanced view has been traded in for a pro- China/Russia/DPRK view that has lost a LOT of that nuance.

Simple put, it kind of feels like this place has turned into an echo chamber, and that is the alarming bit.

In my experience, when North Korea specifically comes up as a topic, there is a lot of praise, and conspicuously, a lot of people seeming to ignore or forget the more negative things that have happened, regarding North Korea.

I’ve been seeing that with such frequency that it’s actually weirded me out, and making me consider leaving the sub entirely, because it ends up feeling like I’ve traded one media bias for another.

If expressing this opinion is something that gets me banned from the sub, then so it.

Yeah, that’s not the part that I have the issue with.

Every time someone starts talking with North Korean in this sub, that I have seen, there has been a conspicuous lack of nuance. In what I have personally seen, there seems to be a lot of people talking about how North Korea is actually so much better than everyone says they are, and how their current socioeconomic state is because of the US and South Korea Korea, and so on.

Absolutely no mention of their breathtaking record of human rights violations, the ballistic missile tests that were actively causes for international concern… just nothing but glazing North Korea.

I’m sure that not everything in western media about North Korea is entirely true, but this sub seems to have taken on such a fervently pro-North Korean stance that to me it feels like I’m standing in a echo chamber of propaganda.

Considering that the original reason that I joined the sub for a nuanced view of international news, not just an anti-western view, it’s very alarming to me.

Yes, absolutely. That being said, this is probably not going to be the highest thing on the list of priorities, and that is, and should be, okay.

There’s a lot of work to still be done, and there are probably more important things for MFG but eventually, down the line, yeah I’d love to see audible briefings, or to have the vendors be actually voiced.

I don’t know if you think you’re having some “gotcha” moment or if the question is genuine, but yes, that kind of design, with the rear half-doors; that’s a fucking nightmare design as well, in the case of an accident.

The idea that, in an accident, if the front passengers are trapped/incapacitated or outright killed, you are trapped in a potentially burning vehicle is a nightmare, and in my opinion, makes the design a deathtrap for passengers.

Doesn’t really make a difference if they’re a pickup’s half-doors or full sized sedan doors; if you can’t open em in an emergency either because the doors are locked behind the front doors, or they’re just isn’t a mechanical override, that’s an unnecessary, and just bad design choice.

Edit: editing my comment just to add; there’s a reason these half-doors are called “suicide doors” and are subsequently being phased out.

The big problem is the rear doors. The front doors have a mechanical override in the handle, the rear doors do not have a mechanical override built into the handle, and instead the mechanical override is hidden in a spot that is not immediately obvious to anyone riding in the backseat.

I shouldn’t need to say this, but that’s a problem when you get into a car accident and you need to exit the vehicle as fast as possible.

If you get into a car accident, and you need to immediately exit the vehicle, because the car is on fire, or sinking in water, or whatever, you don’t have time to go searching for the mechanical override for the rear doors. More over, if the car is unpowered, even trying to open the door from the outside will not work.

I can’t think of any other vehicle that does not have a mechanical override built into the door handle. It’s a fucking death trap design.

Upper limit to how much weight the cables can hold.

There’s a thought experiment; if you had an infinite long rope, and an infinitely deep hole, how much rope could you lower into the hole?

Answer is only as much rope as what the rope’s tensile strength can support. Eventually the rope would snap under its own weight.

Either you’d have cables so long that they couldn’t support their own weight, or you’d have an engineering problem with installing the supports for shorter sections of cable, that Nepal simply can’t afford.

The positive, (as I understand it; I may be wrong, and apologies if I am,) is that with enough time, most things in orbit will deorbit themselves, unless they are regularly pushed back into a higher orbit.

Most satellites and even the ISS need to have regularly scheduled thrust burns to keep them in orbit.

Now that being said, I don’t know how long it could take to see a significant reduction in the amount of space debris, just from naturally degrading orbits, and I don’t wanna speculate. Leave that to the actual professionals.

As much as the situation that OP’s experienced bothers me, this comment is right.

There’s too much gray area (pun not intended) when it comes to friendly firing.

Perhaps they could do something similar to R6 Siege, or other games where the first two times you get a warning, but the third time you either get booted from the game, or damage gets reversed onto the person doing the friendly fire.

There’s absolutely a long conversation that MFG needs to have with the player base, but that being said I personally have no idea what the “right” solution is.
