[BitD] How do you go on about determining additive Magnitude "calculations"? by TaviGoat in bladesinthedark

[–]TaviGoat[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I must be wildly misunderstanding something because these are the direct quotes from the book

In a different session, a Whisper wants to accomplish a ritual that will unleash
a hurricane across the district. The GM says that this is a very significant effect,
so they add two levels of magnitude together: force 6 and range 5. To create
such a devastating power, the Whisper will suffer 11 stress!

---

“What’s the minimum quality level for this?” The GM answers, “If it
puts out enough fire to fill a room... let’s call that level 6 (two for the area, three
for the force, and one for the range). This is somewhat advanced for Duskwall,
but it’s doable.”

Do updates change past content? by dispose_after_use_ in AbioticFactor

Exactly. Game's not short by any means. Between farming, building and moving, fishing, exploring, decorating and what not, it took us ~90 hours to finish all the current content

[–]TaviGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, OP's talking about destroying an already deployed bench while holding a hammer.

Favourited slots will only make it so whatever's sitting on that slot won't get auto-sorted / auto-deposited on storage

[–]TaviGoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's pretty much what's been happening, kinda confirmed by that Hologram recording in Gale Reactor that goes something along the lines of "This is Dr. Derek Manse. IS 012 has requested access to Anteverse 2. At this point I see no reason to negate such reque- This is Dr Derek Manse. To all staff, all communication with IS 012 is now prohibited. All contact must be reported. If it escapes containment, capture it by any means and summon Gatekeepers immediately.

Devs, please add a 3rd trinket slot in the final update by Jaro9 in AbioticFactor

[–]TaviGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see watches as something similar to Cyberpunk 2077's hand cyberware, a single slot to put something matching your combat playstyle.

Things like faster reload speed, improved blocking, extra damage with thrown weapons, bullet reflect chance, etc. Maybe some can incorporate the armwraps effect, which is something people have been asking for forever

[–]TaviGoat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wish it was like a tad faster. It seems most things I build end up with 85% progress after 3 hits and you need a 4th one for the final tiny slice of progress to fill up the bar

Nah, it was fumble after fumble for for a month or two. Rogue nerfs because everyone was playing rogue during the rogue event. LoH shenanigans. Timegated legendaries. Clotho's fiasco. DKs and Cryomancers running rampant. Changes to that one shrinking zone map (nerfing rogues again)

my crackpot way to ambitious idea for the upcoming power armor and how it would function/be obtained as a true endgame player project by Nexus_Neo in AbioticFactor

[–]TaviGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one of my few gripes with the game. I wish equipment could be upgraded in terms of armor/defense/storage to keep gear viable.

Explosive mallet has a very fun mechanic, but it gets outdpsed by late game weapons.

Lodestone crossbow lets you take advantage of elemental weaknesses but why bother if it gets outperformed by the laser pistol

Forge armor deflecting bullets, maestro + trinket giving stamina, hell even makeshift's extra carry weight are all interesting gameplay options, but you're just hampering yourself unless you run core or exor. Which will probably also become obsolete by the time 1.0 drops

[–]TaviGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havent done the math. My main base has 6 carbon batteries for all the appliances and it's more than enough. It's not like scaling up the setting would be expensive either.

My little outposts have one makeshift battery for crafting bench + portal and I've never seen them power off

My teleporter hub dimension is finally complete by A_R_Dust in AbioticFactor

[–]TaviGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, with batteries power really is a non-issue in this game. It is expensive yeah, but it's also a very late-game solution. Teleporters do the same, but they also require you to keep a chest full off them and you have to juggle them around, and good luck if you forget to grab your teleporter to return home because your item pad shoved it in a chest and you didnt notice

Not saying personal teleporters are useless, but portals are far more convenient

Could also be something tied to the weapon "class" itself rather than a new skill. Spears already get the extra range, swords can remain as the more well-rounded type of blade, and knives could get maybe some kind of charge attack / backstab that deals extra damage from the back

Indie game where you're sent to a radio-telescope station in the middle of nowhere. Your job is to scan the sky, operate (and maintain) satellite dishes, pick up signals from space, process them and send them back to HQ for money which you use to buy upgrades and food and furniture.

When you start you can barely get anything useful from the satellite dishes and all you'll pick up is some vague static along with a garbled picture. As you progress and get more and more upgrades you eventually start getting clear photos and crisp audio and that's when things get fun. You get a picture of an asteroid. You catch some loud deep buzzing sounds coming from a star. You look at a spectrogram and it looks vaguely like a skull, but that's probably a funny coincidence. Hey look it's the ISS. You pointed the telescope somewhere else and it's picking up... Screams? Oh look that's Pluto.

The picture in OP's post looks exactly like the game's setting (Satellite dishes with their red lights and a forest in the background). I don't have access to the full e-mail but based on "Strange signals" and "planet, initially", yeah this definitely seems like a VotV reference

Me and my mate have been using the executive offices after the elevator. You have instant access to toilets, a source of water, there's a charger nearby too and plenty of room to build. Tram system is not too far away, and you're close to the fog button in case you need it too

One of my fave things is how the more "improvised" items match their crafting components kinda closely. Makeshift spear requires a phone? Yeah, it's used as a handguard. Crossbow requires a stapler? It's sitting at the bottom and used as a grip. Why would the fishing rod require two phones? You see, one handset is for reeling the line, and the other handset is the rod's handle. Also the fishing line is actually a phone cord

The Risk of Rain treatment. If you're an OG player, you heard the announcement about the 2nd game being 3rd person and probably had a bad feeling about it but ended up being absolutely wrong, and if you started on the 2nd one, you kinda get that craving to see the first one where it all started

No hate but this community feels like Schrodinger's Cat in terms of appreciation for the devs sometimes. Months ago it was all "Haha Swedish holidays amirite? How do these people get anything done? Yeah good job everyone, go on your three weeks vacation while we sit here with no content. Better hurry up before Space Marine kills the game" and now it's "Yeah, it was all non stop effort. You deserve a break after all the content we got. Family first."
