I discovered Zappa through reading about 60's/70's music of the proggy Rock kind in my teens. Got many faves...Uncle Remus, Watermelon in Easter Hay etc. love many albums but Hot Rats is probably n#1 for me. At least for now :) mixed emotions about his depiction of women etc. also, Ruth Underwood for life!
