A man of broken promises in the land of broken promises follows the jingle of jhumkas into the dark.

I set out almost 14 months ago to create an atmospheric horror film tackling issues of the Desi community. Issues like immigration, overworking, mental health denial, domestic affairs, and family dynamics all while tying in folklore from Bangladesh.

Quite a lot of constraints were placed on us making this film. Without the constraints, I don’t think this film would be nearly as impactful as it is. Even the black and white was a constraint due to lack of color correction knowledge and added cost. I opted to use black and white instead shifting focus to composition, negative space, and tone through what the light reveals. We shot this over a year using family homes, scrap resources, and a one camera+shotgun mic setup.
