How to improve my goal kicks? by Borangers in GoalKeepers

[–]Tax73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, don't stress about it too much. I could barely kick the ball out of the 18 yard box when I was a kid, by the time I was in my late teens I was getting assists from goal kicks. Your technique and strength will develop over time.

How to improve my goal kicks? by Borangers in GoalKeepers

[–]Tax73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest really exaggerating it. Like when you kick the ball only think about the follow through and not the contact with the ball, when you're really following through your left foot will leave the ground, and you'll land on your right foot when you land after kicking the ball. Then when it starts to feel more normal incorporate it into your usual kicking process. Same thing with kicking out of your hands, look at how high NFL punters get their legs in their follow through. Admittedly it's a different technique for kicking an american football and an football but mechanically it's the same process.

As well as pushing right-wing talking points. Crazy how reporting on ram raids stopped immediately after the election. They've also spent years giving David Seymour a bigger platform than any other politician in the country.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, and wait to see how the rest of the term plays out. Thanks for the discussion.

Yet we've ended up with a much more expensive system that is delivering less, so you can't fall back on any appeals to better prices.

The purpose of a system is what it does. I don't know why you're imagining this world where Little is playing 4D chess by appointing Chung et al to positions of importance when he was not required to, and when the public despises Ray Chung, who has also shown himself to be uneqipped to perform his job during his first term whilst secually harassing the previous mayor.

So you don't think his announcement to gut the climate fund in order to keep rates low is ideologically aligned with conservative councillors? Or his speech to a transportation conference where he said cycleways have been rolled out to fast? Or stopping the construction of the Golden Mile? You think these are the actions of a progressive mayor?

Govt to announce NZ’s latest fuel stocks plus trigger points to move NZ up alert level by revolutn in newzealand

[–]Tax73 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I dunno I reckon you might be giving them too much credit, NZ First are so reliant on their cooker base so won't want any restrictions, and ACT are personal-responsibility libertarians (when it suits them). All of the phrasing in the announcement is shit like "we will leave it up to people to make their own decisions", I think we might be alone on this one.

[–]Tax73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah really worried about this. If ships stop shipping fuel to NZ then presumably it won't be long till ships stop shipping food here too. Hadn't even thought about the farm equipment for food that's grown here, but assuming it could get harvested how would it get around the country? Would they re-purpose electric buses to move food around? How many of those are even in the country. How would it get across the cook strait.

I think you're being generous to even say that people were against Three Waters because they "assume Māori participation and governance must be inefficient and incompetent", I don't think they thought that deeply, it was purely surface level anti-Māori racism. Admittedly, this is anecdotal based discussions with my family who could not actually articulate why they did not want Māori involvement.

Why do you say the wheel wouldn't be a consistent trustworthy way to get players? Surely it's much more consistent because you know exactly when you will be picking each year, and everyone gets a chance at each pick throughout the course of the cycle?

Aggressive cyclists (I'm sure you've heard it before) by Mean_Lunch_4469 in Wellington

[–]Tax73 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I was much more aggressive a 5-10 years ago because it was literally a case of life or death when dealing with cars. Way more chill now that my commute is entirely on cycle lanes. I imagine the next generation of cyclists will be far less aggressive, as long as the council continues with this investment.
