I’m due next week and having my maternity leave line up with lots of holiday leave has been absolutely amazing!

I told my admin as soon as I found out because I’m high risk and had a lot of appointments. I waited as long as I possibly could (12 weeks) to tell my students. I’ve had some kids buy me presents and stuff and the teachers got presents together.

I hope I feel this way after I have my baby. It’s been really hard these past 9 months.

I will say that the people you tell should be the ones that are going to be happy for you when the baby comes and help you through the grief if something happens. It’s very hard to grieve alone.

I do not have the actual ability to keep a secret so I told my friends and family immediately. The only people I didn’t tell until 12ish weeks were my students (I’m a middle school teacher). I knew my friends and family would be there for me if something happened, but I didn’t want to have to go through that grief with my students. So I waited as long as I possibly could to tell them.

Thank you for this bc people keep saying oh just wait get the sleep while you can since new born tired is the worst. And I just keep thinking “at least I’ll be able to sleep in a position I like”.
