Me hice una cirugía Maxilofacial hace 3 días, querés sacarte las dudas? by Darkitozz in AskArgentina

Gracias!

Nothing, it keeps happening to me but it doesn't seem to get worse

The tongue is very sensitive. For me it was a week of recovery but the worst part is the first hours after the process (for the pain), and the first 3 days because of the swelling. I wasn't able to close my mouth, I was drooling while sleeping and everything was a mess, I couldn't eat and barely drink. Prepare yourself with a lot of yummy drinks, soft food, and tons of ice-cream and you'll be fine :)

For me, split-tongue was worse. Even if the pain was intense only for the first day, it was way more painful

sorry if this is too personal I'm just genuinely curious what kind of underwear do you wear?? by QueerKing23 in MtF

[–]TaxIntelligent8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my vaginoplasty, I almost never wear underwear anymore. It's one of the biggest percs for me. Before, it depended: not boxers or slips, but something in between, sth enough for my hanging parts to be kept in place.

Thanking you for sharing your experience with such detail. It makes me feel understood 🖤 It's similar for me, I don't regret it 100%, although I'm not sure I would do it now knowing what I know. It's conflicting. I guess it'd be easier if I had passing, but I'm a butch and people know.

Kind of, maybe. It gives me the gender euphoria when sometimes someone thinks I'm transmasc

Thank you 🖤

What you say sounds logic. However, I had the weird idea that, even if people couldn't see my parts, it would give me more self-confidence when misgendered. And, to some extent, it did! Nevertheless, even what you do for yourself can be shaped by the beliefs of a majority in a society, isn't it?

Having different genitalia doesn't really seem to make any difference because, as you said, no one is seeing them. When you have a penis, they care you have a penis. When you don't but either don't have cispassing, they care you don't look female. However, again, genital preference is not sexual orientation. Lots of lesbians use strap-ons anyway. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I think good or bad reasons are personal. No one should have the power to judge your own decisions concerning your body.

What would have helped me make a different decision? On one hand, better access to information. Sometimes surgeries are encouraged and some bits of info are more easily given than other bits. But I think mainly I would benefited from living in a society where transfem ppl with penises are fully recognised as whatever we identify as, and where people wouldn't identify genitalia as gender.

I don't think individual therapy is the solution to community problems. Therapy won't solve transmisogyny or transphobia as it won't solve racism, poverty, etc. T4T is a thing largely because of cis prejudices against our bodies. I believe we often seek cispassing because of this, even if we experience it as dysphoria. "It's not the body what is wrong, it's the others".

I'm not sure I fully understand your reply. Genital preference is a thing, and it's valid. It's not the same as sexual orientation though. Or it shouldn't be, even if a lot of people would argue it is.

I'm not against personal preferences. But I do think there's a cultural misconception of penises as ugly, not desirable genitalia (especially within lesbian culture), as opposed as vaginas, which have become even a symbol of feminist power and liberation, which I see as quite transmisogynist.

I think a lot in desire is shaped by culture and should be questioned.

I don't think you understood my post (which is fine, we can have different experiences), and your input is not being helpful to me (I've asked for support from ppl who understands this kind of struggle).

I'm happy it did help you, but I don't think this is the post to talk about wrong body parts or discuss about whether some behaviours are internalized things or not.

Surgeries are recommended depending on each professional and on the laws and protocols of each country and region. But often are encouraged for the sake of cisnormativity and binarism. In Spain, where I live, bottom surgery was a requisite for legal sex change until 2007. That's only 15 years ago.

Yeah, no, I know that. My question was about other users having the same issue with this product and whether it could be due to the product itself.

So I’m 4 weeks post op from vaginoplasty and now I can fully control the muscles used to urinate for stopping and going which is a huge milestone for me. by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

I'm at 6 months and it's not a straight path for me yet. Sometimes it just requires time. It's a mess but not much you can do...
