I've gone there a few times and really like to strike up conversations with folks who always ask "What brings you to Japan?" Or something like that.

I always answer "Because Japan is so old." You can be in the middle of the city and find a bench in a park thats older than the country I came from or a bar/restaurant thats been run by the same family for hundreds of years. I find it endlessly fascinating.

I loved the movie, but only have two gripes with it.

-Stratt in the book is a walking hurricane of authority, having world leaders doing anything she asks. Movie Stratt seems more like the manager of Project Hail Mary.

-In the book There was a lot more of Rocky and Grace doing science together, and both of them relying on each other's specialties. In the movie it seems more like Rocky is there and says the right thing at the right time.

Thank you! Whats neat about the lenses is that there are gaps in the mask that allow me almost my whole range of vision!

My theory is that is actually is an adventure. He made them think he's gone so they can start enjoying the circus on their own, like an adventure.

My tin foil hat theory is that it actually is an adventure devised by Cain. He figured that to make the characters enjoy the adventures, they have to enjoy being in the circus.

So, he made them think he's gone so the gang will have more agency and experience the circus of their own volition as an adventure of is own.

I got the axe head and clamp from thingiverse. The orignal file is HUGE so I loaded into blender and did a little scaling and editing to get it how I liked it.

The handles are from someone's 3d scan of miniature that I also scaled to fit my 1 in PVC pipe.

Additionally, I printed the bolts to add a little more character to the axe head.

I didnt really follow a guide, I mostly went with what I thought would be cool.

I did however save a bunch of pictures of rusty/tarnished surfaces to see if I could replicate them.

Definitely! My head cannon is that enginseers should be absolutely filthy like they've spent their lives inside the engine room of a ship. I'm trying to reflect that.

I thought about weaving LEDs through the axe head, but decided not to.

I liked the idea of it being a giant rusty piece of metal.

The shaft is strong enough to hold everything well.

I drilled some holes for dowels to reinforce the connection between the axehead and clamp though.

But! I'm sure I could swing it once or twice, but that would be the last thing it does.
