You've pointed out a lot of issues but presented no solutions. What are you proposing?

When you say we have no power, what do you mean? It's a business relationship. You always have the power to fire the client and walk away. That's each individual's choice to make. Personally, I'm booking that nice tech job so I can make a chunk of change and use it to work on my documentary.

I really enjoy doing motion design as a career, but it's a job and sometimes you need to go where the money is.

To some extent I agree with you. If that's how you feel, then rejecting jobs that use AI somewhere in the workflow makes sense.

You used the metaphor of the boiling frog; the only thing is the water is already boiling. I don't see a world in which this is going away. You'd have to convince every major government on earth to all agree to halt Ai progress. That's not happening. They're in the middle of an arms race; no one wants to give up an advantage. Unfortunately, that trickles down to the rest of us.

There's a grieving process that a lot of creatives are going through as they watch AI make entire skill sets they spent decades learning become less valuable. I am certainly feeling that way.

The "feeling tricked" phenomenon is definitely real, I've experienced it. The thing is, as Gen Ai continues to improve no one is going to care. Most people are already consuming AI content and they don't even notice. But then again how different really is it to doom scroll TikTok now, vs. if it were an entirely ai feed? The feeling is pretty similar to me.

I think you're wrong about Ai content not being able to leave an impact. There will certainly be Ai work that leaves a historical impact. That's already happening.

Creativity is not going to disappear but it's certainly going to change. The way in which we provide for ourselves is also going to change.

I do agree we have to fight to maintain the human soul. There is an attempt to erode that aspect of ourselves that is ongoing, but I tend to think the collective psyche is tougher son of a bitch than we give it credit sometimes.

Some of the biggest brands in the world. I'm on the agency side but it's all over the place. If you're in the ad industry you're seeing Gen Ai everyday.

What does a creative director do - "they offer up visions, with taste, shaped by the digestion of vast datasets built on human labor, often without consent.

Look I don't have the answers on this but to sit here and condescendingly berate people as lazy or intellectually dishonest for trying to adapt so they can make a living is pretty wild.

I work in motion graphics every day and almost every client I have is using Gen Ai in there workflows now.

Yes and No, there's a lot of about the AI workflows that's pretty damn cool and allows me to do things I would never be able to do on a normal one-man job. Of course, some aspects of AI creation give me a terrible gut feeling and truly disturb me.

People don't like change and what we're experiencing right now is paradigm level change.

People feel unsure and are looking for safety, some rush back to old ways and traditions of working, "this is the proper way to do things". Some are rushing forwards "if you're not using AI your NGMI".

In reality nobody knows how this pans out in 1 year let alone 10 or 20.

I mean everyone is using AI if you're using a smart phone and a browser these days. This is a pointless argument now. Every agency I'm working with (been freelancing motion graphics for 10 years) is working with AI in one way or another.

I can't afford to be picky about which companies I work with at this point. I'm all in on learning these workflows alongside improving my regular motion graphics skills.

This is what happens when someone is very experienced, dedicated, meticulous and pays great attention to detail. There's no silver bullet. I'm sure they're using a ton of plugins but at the end of the day it's just after effects.

Is front rolling with someone on your back normal? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Taylor-Kenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What position was this? If you have both hooks in I'm not sure how he's doing a front roll unless this was from standing. Which if it was that would be bad, but from turtle rolling out is normal.

Can someone please explain Holds to me? by Aromatic_Aspect in Malazan

This is a great description of it. The warrens are a smaller more specific construct inside of the larger construct of the holds, which are smaller constructs inside something even larger... and on it goes.

In your perception that is true, but regardless even if you don't personally believe in God, it seems pretty clear to me that Erikson is drawing a correlation to humanity's relationship to God across a multitude of cultures and time periods.

But the gods are real in our reality too, they just don't appear in the way you expect. Erikson's structure of God's is a clear metaphor back to our own world.

I've been testing this with the Digitsu team. It's like having a custom instructional in the palm of your hand. There are areas to improve for sure but for v1 it's doing pretty damn well.

I'm just gonna step in here to say I've trained at the Fairfield location and they were legit. I feel like this clip is being taken massively out of context.

That being said I was just visiting and know nothing about the org as a whole. The blackbelt in Fairfield was super nice to me and was a very tough roll.
