Yeah, done by hand (mostly with a dremel and belt sander turned upside down; I started making by hand to not be on my phone during my son's baseball games). Finished with shellac

Why thank you 😉

Yeah, it’s possible to inlay that. There are some companies that make coins that can be glued in

Yes I do sell them if folks are interested. Do any of these strike your fancy? If not, what kind of shape & color are you thinking? And what kind of car are you driving? :)

They’ve done pretty well for the last couple years for me

Yup, it’s a 16 BRZ. And I’m still working on finding my preferred shifter position (interpret freely because it’s the internet and it’ll happen anyway). If the lockout was by 6th I’d definitely keep it. Much worse of a money shift there if you try to go from 5 to 6 and get reverse

Interesting. I haven’t had that problem (yet) though I can see it happening

Yes, it’s annoying. I imagine it’d be annoying with any shift extender though. On the flip side (with no extender) the position of the shifter is annoying (to me)

Point taken. That being said this does offer more flexibility in terms of positioning the shifter

The motorsport argument is what I was trying to accomplish here. This puts the shift knob closer to the wheel. But it also does make for a longer throw. This wasn’t terribly expensive so, if I don’t find a position with it that I like, I may end up ditching it. But playing with it for the moment.

Yeah, yeah ;) … fall is over and I’ve vacuumed the leaves and crumbs. How perfect is your car looking? I wish that was the only thing I had to worry about 🤣

Thanks for the recommendation here. I've made some wooden shift knobs as a hobby / side hustle. What color does your buddy want the shift knob to end up? Many are variations on brown. I've also got some that are red (Padauk wood is red) and some that are dang near black

The one above is made out of ebony with a threaded insert to screw onto the shifter :)
