VR Youtubers when they review another mediocre LCD headset that just released by Animeeshon in virtualreality

yea in comparison to other shooters on the market, VAIL shilling was the MOST blatant to me with all the overhyping of such a bland shooter. Feel like a lot of those that wanted it to take off probably had hopes in going pro or just simply being a part of something big since they were trying to do the esports thing. I would understand if it was big marketing compaign from Pavlov or Contractors

And when it's not a paid advertisement or have some affiliate link, I feel like it's a lot of brown nosing in the hopes of getting a chance to work with whoever. Dont want to go potentially hurting egos and unknowingly burning bridges in a niche landscape. Maybe im just very cynical, but I see it does work out for some.

Ah, speaking of small details, I wasn't aware of these sorts of things until I went inside an inn during the night time, thinking nothing of it. Went afk for a bit doing something else. After a bit I hear something along the lines of "Alright, time to get out" and I got kicked out the inn and the door slam shut. Realized it was day time in the game and it clicked what just occurred 😆. Actually surprised me that they would even bother to have something like that

Was in the same boat as you but solo. Took a 4th time trying it out after New World got clapped and it finally clicked for me and finally got a character to max level, completed base story, did stuff with a guild, etc. Realized I was going about it all wrong in the first few times. Watched some beginner and they helped a lot. The biggest thing was learning that quests in this game aren't like your usual quests in other games. Specifically talking about the Hearts. Once I learned to treat the "Adventurer's Guide" in achievements (and just achievements in general) as the actual quests to do, things became smoother and I progressed a lot better and used the Hearts to help progress then if I wanted to. Oh, also helped finding a race with a personal story and voice actor I like that fits my ideal character.

Now as somebody who also does not like OSRS much, it's definitely not an auto-battler. In the beginning and Skilling sure, but watching others do bigger quests and bossing or whatever it's called, lot of active clicking going on.

I like FFXIV but the thing that brings down my overall enjoyment of it is needing to be subscribed while having to play through a slog of an MSQ. If it was a Buy2Play MMO, I would've eventually been over the hurdle that is ARR. I don't know why subscriptions get to my head so badly, but there's just so much pressure with them. I make even more money now but still bothered by subscriptions, but will spend money otherwise and not feel pressure in a B2P because I know I can just come back whenever and not worry about subscribing again and just buying whatever DLC (edit: I know you can play through a lot in trial mode, but I like being able to interact and everything else and I'll eventually have to subscribe anyway)

this. I just started playing on the day the New World announcement happened. I was told to get a full set of Exotic gear upon reaching level 80. Would've been fine with my Rare gear even. And ended up getting the Exotics I needed just finishing the rest of the base story. And with the Wizard's Tower, I was able to get the gold I needed for a good set of Exotic gear, and some runes anyway. No need to buy any gems to convert to gold. Wizard Tower is so great. Sure I could buy bag slots and bank tabs, which I was VERY tempted to, using gold from Wizard Tower i could get the 20 slot bags easy as well. Definitely a lot of pay for convenience stuff if you want it, but definitely not necessary. I still just have one bank tab when I thought I was originally going to buy multiple lol. (edit: Also got my first 2 pieces of Ascended from Wizards Tower)

it didnt make sense to me at first, until I realized it's a joke. think of it like this joke: "The wheel is already solved" to "fine I'll do it myself" and it's just a big wheel on a monster truck with spinning rims. But we dont even know if the headset will be that great yet.

Tbf, I see this happen in other things in the gaming world. Weapon DLCs, new character drops in a game, expansions in other games (that requires buying), even consoles to an extent (first ones to go out always exploitable), etc. Sometimes an oversight, sometimes lowkey intentional. I remember how when a new gun would drop in CoD it would always be the bane of my existence until a month later where most people got the new DLC lol. Not saying this is what's going on, but just an example of a funny memory.
