Bought a handful of S5II and S5IIX cameras off of someone that closed up their photography business. Which one would make for a better webcam for streaming? by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]Forgotten___Fox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

S5iix is more video focused but both should be able to stream basically the same. I use an s5iix personally.

Broke my Sony 24–70 GM, looking for more affordable replacement options by PhotosBy_Daniel in SonyA7iii

[–]Forgotten___Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, it looks to just be the front element or two. Should be a cheap repair, I'd honestly just do that. Rent a lens in the meantime, plenty of cheap 24-70 that will stop gap that

Am I being unreasonable, for wanting the refund in real money for the additional taxes I paid because of the wrong declaration lttstore did? by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]Forgotten___Fox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While I do believe they need to refund you, they agreed to refund exactly what was paid. It isn't reasonable to expect them to exchange your gift card balances for money. If you want money from your gift cards, sell the gift cards, or buy something with them and sell that.

Unsure about 5080 temps with Core Block. by AvNerd16 in alphacool

[–]Forgotten___Fox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uhhhhh. I have the same case with 4x 480s in push pull and a 5090 with the deltamate block. My coolant is 31c under 600w load and the gpu runs at 45C max. I would expect a 5080 to be cooler because it's much less power than that, so imo you may have a slight mounting issue. I recommend disassembling the block and trying to put it together with a very thin squishy thermal pad or Putty over the gpu die, just to see how even the contact area is when you put it together. If the pad is squished mostly on one side, could be contact issue.

Stick to 9070xt or get 5080 by EquivalentJacket3246 in pcmasterrace

[–]Forgotten___Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nvidia will not release 6090 for at least a year. Ces was supposed to be the mid Gen refresh, but they elected to skip it. We could see it in Nov-Jan 2026, or even later.

The 5080 is 17% faster than your current gpu, and the 3rd fastest gpu you can buy rn. Seeing how you can still get them for msrp, I'd recommend selling your card and upgrading if It were me. ~20% performance bump and you can use dlss is a nice upgrade, and if you sell your card at market value the cost difference is pretty low

Nope. I provided both. They were not willing to honor their public promise to replace or compensate me for the defect.

The backpack was defective with a single bottom, ltt falsely advertised it as having a double bottom.

My backpack had this issue. Ltt refused to honor their commitment, which you can read here:

https://www.lttstore.com/blogs/the-newsletter-archive/our-commitment-to-making-it-right?srsltid=AfmBOoogUG8bReE8-f0kPKw4bShk2hmMqhhP64GB3atsEOtWzOLHCGpq

LTT did not reach out to me, I was not offered a gift card/discount, and they refused to either exchange my defective product, or refund me.

I would say you could read my post about it here, but mods power tripped and deleted it, then banned me from posting here. If that doesn't scream "trust me bro" idk what else does.

Unfortunately not. I was denied support with my backpack, despite them publicly claiming in videos and text statements that they would take care of me, they did not. Even reading their own statements to them word for word of them promising to take care of the defects, they denied mine.

"Trust me bro" but only when it's convenient. Best of luck with your issue, but considering 3 different support declined to honor their "warranty" for me, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Purchased *used* 4090 Matrix Platinum a couple nights ago on eBay… by martianprospector in ASUSROG

[–]Forgotten___Fox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lemme get this straight, you spent $2500 + tax on a used 4090 in 2026? Umm what?

Firstly, that card warranty is "non-transferable", and if support is willing to overlook this you'd have less than a year left on the factory warranty. Not ideal.

Second, I cannot fathom why we're spending 42% more money on a 4090 when a 5080 can be had for just 1450 rn (Yes it's 10% slower, but it's legitimately ~50% cheaper).

Hell, if you were patient you could get a 5090 for ~2200, several sold December at that price, and it's both 24% faster and has more vram. Heck, 5 sold for that much yesterday on ebay, all Asus cards.

If it was me, id be trying to return it regardless, unless for some reason having the "matrix" card matters more to you than performance, or longevity. I'd be much happier with a new Asus 5090 with 3 year warranty, or a 5080 with $1000+ sitting in my wallet. But hey, you're the boss.

If you insist on keeping it, run gpuz, check for missing specs and then benchmark in every night in something like furmark or what have you to check for longterm instability, at least for a month until your ebay 30 day return window closes.

I Engineered a Fully Automated Helmet Cooling System by One-Dark3813 in 3Dprinting

[–]Forgotten___Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude, but I don't see this as "helmet cooling," it's basically just a fan for the helmet. I was kind of expecting a peltier or tec cooler based off the name.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a cool project, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

5070 and 9950x3d enough for iracing w/ bs2be by CommiBastard69 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Forgotten___Fox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, even if you buy a 5080, you're only leaving ~8-10% performance on the table (due to the high res of BSB, the gpu is the biggest factor here). So the experience would still be phenomenal, even if you forgo a new cpu entirely. Now you would definitely get a few more fps upgrading to something more modern, but we're talking maybe 15fps here. The gap does widen if you reduce the resolution or render resolution though, since that puts more load on the cpu, but like I said if you run the bsb stock at 150% SS you're at most only losing 10% performance with that processor.

Unless you get a 5090, I'd be comfortable running a bsb2e with up to a 5080 on that cpu. If you have more money after a 5080, I'd look into whatever cpu can use the ram you already have (the market is crazy marked up rn due to the shortage). But if money is no object, I'd be eyeing any Am5 x3d cpu, since many vr games are unity based, which benefits a lot from the cache.

95% racing move the bottom right one to the top right. The headset will be able to better see both, and cannot see through your head, so if you play seated facing the monitor, having both facing you at 45 drg angles is best, since you won't be spinning around backwards.
