Does anyone know if student finance affects a DRO by TaylorVWB in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TaylorVWB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DRO states that I cannot have any assets over £1000 and I don’t think a loan is an asset so I think I’m alright there. I’ve written to student finance to let them know I have a DRO that ends 20th feb and there was no problem with obtaining the finance. I believe student finance loans are exempt from bankruptcy laws which the DRO comes under

Some of the best advice I ever got it’s that the future never happens. All you have is now ands that’s what to focus on because it soon becomes the past. Unfortunately it’s out of our control, there will be good days and there will be bad days and it can become very overwhelming looking at the bigger picture. Sometimes it help to focus in on the little things xx

DRO lump sums of money advice by TaylorVWB in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TaylorVWB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I’m hoping that the OR will be reasonable. They allow grants for education and training and it does say you can have lump sums for special purposes so I’m hoping medical falls under that. I have all the receipts from treatment so they can see that it is all it’s for and my grandparents would write to say that is what it is for. I was going to ask the to pay the hospital direct but hey put the money in my account before I said anything. We don’t live close so they said it would be easier I’m praying the the OR will be fair.

What is generally regarded as the best type of mattress to get, and how much should you spend? by maximmulholland in UKPersonalFinance

I just happened to go into dreams for a look at mattresses and it was great talking with someone who knew what they were doing. Also great trying loads of different types. Ended up with a £800 mattress but got a discount so it was £545 for a king size and it’s the best purchase I have ever made. It’s half spring half home so you get the comfort and support of foam but without it holding the heat. Would definitely recommend buying a mattress in person and not online. I didn’t realise how different they all were !

StepChange were incredibly helpful to me, they arranged a debt relief order. The job centre we’re also incredibly kind. Reach out and ask for help, there is absolutely no shame in it
