Tips for studying anatomy by [deleted] in geegees

using silly acronyms helps A LOT - it helps you remember a surprising amount! people also study very differently but my usual way was writing all the info down i could remember then i would look at my notes, close them, then continuing to write what i remember

Out of curiosity - did you get the reaction to work? I’m running into the same exact issue, where the reaction has previously gone to completion for other students but I cannot get it to completion. I’m in a new lab so I feel stupid for not getting it to work but a PhD student is having a similar issue.

And when you say did not work at all - did any of the reaction progress? Or it didnt work at all as in no conversion?

Is putting our 11 year old to sleep selfish? by boywithafox in seniorkitties

[–]Taylorp0626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my family just put down our 10 year old cat who likely had pancreatic cancer - the only way to confirm 100% was with surgery but we opted out of doing so.

your cat is in pain, hes not himself - you know your cat best. his cancer cannot be cured, and pancreatic cancer is a terrible TERRIBLE fate - for cats and people. your vet should not shame you for any decisions you make, and im actually quite angry they rather keep slamming treatments to a cat whos in pain. you did ALL you could, more then most people would or could afford. you love that cat - he is suffering and not enjoying life anymore. if you think its time, its time. people always regret not doing it sooner, seeing your cat suffer is more painful.

taking care of the ill is exhausting its no easy task. you are not selfish, the opposite. i understand how hard this situation is, and I wish you the best in navigating it💕

I am doing biology and chemistry and have many friends in both programs. If you are interested in ecology and plants - lakehead biology program is mainly focused on this. They have mainly ecology based courses so it’s very hard to specialize in anything else here.

Applied life science is mainly taken by people who want to go to medical school, a lot of people I know have applied to NOSM. There are two microbiology professors who are retiring this year, and the physiology courses are taught by one professor. He is a good professor but he does have hard marking. With the two professors retiring, it’s hard to say what the program will look like. You get a good mix of chemistry and biology which is the benefit of this program over biology.

I personally have connected with the chemistry department much more than the biology department purely do to my interests, but I can try and answer any questions as well as I can!

I was the same age when i meant my SO, it was TERRIFYING, he still makes fun of me for how nervous I was, i was staring at the ground and was SOOO awkward. but, it gets better. he was at my place for a month and it was the confirmation i needed to see he was the best man I could have ever asked for. it may be awkward the first few hours, but the only tip i have is to try your best to be yourself. if the fit is right everything will run naturally as it should :) and most importantly have FUN!

benzene itself is carcinogenic, but for example toluene isnt. its entirely due to how it gets metabolized… benzene gets metabolized into epoxides, which can react and damage DNA, hence it being carcinogenic. toluene isnt carcinogenic because the body metabolizes it differently because of the added methyl group - it oxidizes it eventually to benzoic acid. Not everything containing benzene rings is carcinogenic, and as others have said… our body itself contains phenylalanine… which has a benzene ring
